Believe it or not the C-5 coupe is pretty air tight. If you lower the hatch with the doors closed and the windows up, the hatch will quite often not close completely enough for the car to sense it's latched.
Try closing it with the windows down and you'll see it works better. Save that, if you close the hatch then press down on both sides of it will also fit tighter.
The next time you get that message, get out of the car and press down on the hatch and see if it seals better and shuts off the 'alarm'.

Most of the time after I close my hatch I have to push down on the left and right side to make sure it is closed, If I don't I will get the hatch open light. On mine it looks closed, But it isn't.
