Some folks need to lighten up. I hear the "plastic car" joke all the time. The next most-common thing is that it's my "mid-life crisis" car. Neither of these bother me.

But not an especially attractive one. Just as some of us accept that there those who love the C7, its fans are going to have to realize that there are those of us who don't. I don't like the early C1s with the goofy rear fender extensions. I dislike post metal bumper C3s. I also don't like C5s with wagon wheels or C6s that aren't widebodies. They're all Corvettes too, but that doesn't mean I have to like them.

Of course minivans aren't "cool." They're not supposed to be. Neither, for that matter are Taurus station wagons.
For some of us a minivan is the only answer. I can fold the seats into the floor and put stacks of 4'x8' sheets of plywood in the back of mine. I've fit couches or entire sets of kitchen cabinets back there. Good luck with that in a station wagon or SUV. I can pull the seats back up and take seven adults to an event and save on gas and parking instead of taking two vehicles. Or I can carry a half-dozen or so large dogs like when I take retired racing greyhounds to adoption groups.

Further, I am as much "car guy" as possible. There are a few dozen of us on this board on a daily basis. We value our Corvettes about as much as anyone. I am proud to be one of those. Call me a minivan driver if you want. Whatever. I don't get the silly hatred for a certain vehicle
Wow I think everyone is being a little hard on this guy! He obviously has "can't afford a new Vette envy syndrome`` but no need to decard him just yet. I`m sure his mini van had longtube headers on it after all...
Exactly right. Damn jealousy gets in the way every time doesn't it.

I have to agree with jcsperson... I'm not a fan of the C7 thus far. Try and try as I might to like it I cant... Also as stated theres many other variations/years/things on vettes past I havent cared for. Is that a reason to rib some poor dude just enjoying his cruise, probably not but... eh lighten up... its all in good fun. I cruise with Mustang guys all the times and the jokes are part of the fun of it all... Enjoy the car hobby for what it is and lighten up. Not everyones gonna drool for our Vettes...
If the OP had pulled up next to the C7 in a C5, his comment would have been funny to both. Having done so in a mini-van, the OP is just another Soccer Dad without a clue as to the joys of Corvette ownership. Pity the fool.
So anyone who says they don't like the C7 does so only because they can't afford it? That's a little presumptuous.
No not at all if the comment to is made in good taste. To try to ridicule his decision to buy a C7 shows me that envy may play a part in it. I cant afford one and I would never refer to another`s Vette as a Camaro. Its obvious to me!
I bought a C5, that was my limit for a toy big butt and all!!!
No he's not!!! I am the douche of the week and proud of it!
P.S. I thought the new c-7 was Butt ugly from the pictures I saw of it. Then I actually got to see one in person which backed up my original thought!

The "Corvette Community" is a far cry from that of the other cars I've owned. Typically car owners of a similar type stick together. The C7 is 100% Corvette and behavior like this thread suggests just makes all C5 owners look lame.
Sorry, but I just can't let go of the mini-van aspect of this whole thing. Between my wife and me our kids are 30, 25 & 22, so we were parents of young kids right in the middle of the time of the great mid/late 80s minivan rush. My wife takes great pride in being able to say that she never owned or drove "one of those damn things" (her terminology). To be fair she did drive an original Taurus wagon and an Explorer but never a mini-van. I still remember when I was a young bachelor driving a Datsun 280Z and my boss was all excited over the new first year 4-cylinder refrigerator-white Dodge Caravan that he had factory ordered. Thing took forever to arrive, mostly because people were waiting in line to buy those crap boxes and at a premium. There was some speculation that his arrived at the dealership, and was subsequently sold and delivered to someone else probably for more than his negotiated price so they had to order him a second one. Personally I'd rather chew on a piece of aluminum foil before being caught dead behind the wheel of a mini-van. If I did drive one I sure as hell wouldn't let any of my CF friends know about it!

Couldn't have said it better myself.
Uh, speaking of some folks needing to "lighten up..."
