Stock Z06 shocks.............Yes they are a direct bolt on !
Z06 2004 shocks – $493.54 (all 4 shocks total)
For all 4 shocks, use part number 04z06shocks under Chevrolet make.

$1000. is over double what you need. I'd get 4 Bilstein Sports and call it a day.

I agree 100% - Plus you can also do the C6 Z51 sway bars too, that will compliment the shocks!
And it will still be under budget!
Thanks,Matt

The best bang for the bucks are C-6, Z06 shocks.
They are a direct replacement, easily available and a whole lot cheaper than a lot of others. I'd also go with the Z06 c-6 sway bars too, and you'll still be under $1000.
Give Gene Culley or any other OEM vendor a call.

Z06 shocks and anti-sways . . . and make sure to get the metal end links for the anti-sways - if your '99 FRC is stock then you still have the plastic links.

I agree. The C6 shocks are a very good choice.

04 z06 sachs shocks are pretty much the best you can get for a c5 without going coilovers or adjustables.
My second choice would be Bilstein sports, and they are way less expensive than the 04 sachs shocks.
Adjustable shocks (koni, pfadt) are another option, but you will need to be a pretty good driver to tune them properly, and it will set you back a good $900.

I was looking at this package with steel end links. That is a great price for a wicked upgrade.
