Edmunds says the average on the 2002 with 6700 miles is $17k. That means cars of like type and mileage sold at much higher than that price and also much lower. The thread for $13k was on the 2001

I was searching for about a year and a half before I finally brought mines a few months ago..that whole time up untill now, the prices still seem about the same..now that I own one I feel pretty good that the prices haven't droped much . I think its probably the best car investment that I have ever made..if you see one for a decent price just jump on it and get it..finding one under $17k with a clean title seems almost impossible.

The guy inquired about an 01 SW C5Z... Please find me one for $13K w a good clean title, not beat to ****, and i'll buy it and give you $500 for finding it! the fact is you WON'T find one for that price... Like one said earlier, it is one of the rare'est C5Z's built.
Black,TR,MY,EB,QS... maybe....

I agree, I don't think you can find one for $13k. That is the average of 2001's sold over a given duration. The white Z06 will be on the very high side of the average. I think $16-18K is not out of the question.

I agree but a lot of the people that bring their cars out are more pristine thus asking price will be higher and that is already is naturally higher in spring/summer.

I have watched the market hard the last two years waiting for the exact car I wanted and price wasnt an issue to me I just wanted what I wanted. So its loosely based on what I have witnessed.

the problem you'll have with white specifically is the low production number. one of the only reasons the integra type r sells for 12,000 when the base model is 2,000-3,000 is production numbers and guys into the cars willing to pay that. same with the mkiv supra, low production

the white 01z has a similar theme because so few were produced. while it's not the same kind of premium as an ITR is over a base, it's kind of like the early z16. if you see a black 01 in a certain condition sell for xx dollars chances are it's a little cheaper in silver and maybe another $2000 in white

I was just doing the math based on this post:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/1586142279-post37.html

In either case, Edmunds is full of crap - even $17K for a 2002 with 6700 miles. Yeah, maybe if it was beat to hell.

Mine booked out at $24,250 when I bought it in November but I got them down to $18,500 due to a situation where the owner was being forced to sell the car for personal reasons.... Go me!

aren't obsessed with the mileage. more obsessed with the condition and mechanical wear for the $$

finding a higher mile car in good condition is hard but do-able. you just have to search. i found one last march that was owned by an elderly guy who had a 50-60 mile each way trip to work and a vacation home around 500 miles from his primary. all that car ever did is drive on freeways. engine had about 3% cylinder leakdown when i tested it.

this kind of thing depends on the owners. some are willing to wheel and deal and some are firm to the dollar

also depends a lot on the condition of the car which you can never see in ads

a leaking slave may not show itself sitting there, especially if the owner wiped the under side off, whole drive train has to come out to fix it

various seals are also prone to leaking in some climates or with some oils {like royal purple}

engine might have low oil pressure or be an oil burner if it was driven hard frequently, so many things

once you go look at half a dozen or so of these cars and get them on a lift to do an inspection it will really surprise you how bad of condition so many are in

absolutely run autocheck or carfax on any potential car

Hangar queens can actually be the worst because they are rarely ever driven and then guys start them up and drive a short distance. The top end tends to get corrosion because the engine never gets fully heated up and boils off any condensation that deposits in the engine. Its like taking a cold can of beer outside on a really hot, humid day and seeing the can sweat. That is what happens inside the motor and most people who have these hangar queens don't change the oil soon enough based on time, not just mileage. I am very hesitant on low mileage engines if the seller does not understand this concept. I always use Camgard in my airplane if I don't fly in frequently as it helps prevent corrosion.

Perfect example of actual sales price versus "asking" price!!

Man I wish I had the lettuce for this right now.... Had I not just dumped a ton of cash into my Engine build I could have picked this one up.. ditch the fake *** black Chinese wheels and throw some Alcoa's on it and call it done.

I would guess a completely stock, low mile 01 SW Z06 down the road would collect a pretty penny to those Corvette Enthusiasts...Maybe it's just me.

That could be true in some cases, but its a little extreme. I just bought an 03 Z that had 12,980 on the ODO, 9 times out of 10 I'm taking that car vs. something w/ double, triple, or 4 times that mileage. Why not? Its a new car basically, it was stock, unmolested, I had it checked out of course but you should check out any used car you're buying regardless of mileage.

Going by what you're saying EVERY SINGLE used motorcycle on the market is potentially a ticking time bomb w/ a rotting engine? Don't think so.

I agree with you and plus cars which are kept in a garage, especially a climate controlled one, aren't going to get condensation inside the engine.
