I went with one of my buddies to Northern Il. yesterday to look at a 03 Anniversary Vert. Very good 1 owner car 26,000 miles. It appears to have a set of BB route 66 cat back on it, only mod. How much drone can he expect from these? Couldn't get it up on the lift at the dealers, but couldn't find any markings on the system. Is this normal? He ended up making the deal on it this morning, so we are going to go pick it up next week after the roads get a little cleaner, Hopefully dry as he don't want to drive it on salty roads. The car has 1 year old Goodyear RF tires, and a perfect carfax. Was all 03 Anniversary Verts loaded for options?
As near as I can tell, the only options that weren't on the `03 AE was the performance rear axle, (Standard was 2.73, performance was 3.15) body side moldings, (BSM) and the 12-disc CD changer. (See: http://www.50thregistry.com/brochure.pdf)
Otherwise, it came with pretty near ever option available.

Thanks for the link, I'll print it off for him. Looks like it has all available options then. As it has BSM, 12 disc changer, 6 speed, and the plate surround for the front.
Was it truly an anniversary edition, and not an anniversary year car? If it was an AE, the entire interior was shale (and neutral), no black on the top of the dash. They all had the 50th anniv badges on the front and rear, but only the Anniv Edition had the anniv red paint and shale interior. Option code 1SC.

It is a 50th anniversary edition car, 1 owner with 26232 miles. Beautiful car, even the under carrage shines like new. Don't believe it has ever been driven in the rain. The guy traded it in on a new mustang.
He also has a 61 Corvette that he bought when he got out of the army in 67. It don't have the original drive train any more, cause we did a lot of drag racing back then. But it does have a mild 327, 4 speed, and it looks very good, not show but very good. He has had several C3s over the years. He's a pretty excited 70 year old right now.

Here's my experience with a set of B&B Route 66 catbacks. I had them on my '00. Loved the look, but the drone and popping when letting off the gas was intolerable. I ended up having to install an X-pipe on the car and after doing that, the drone and popping were reduced by 95+%. Made the car much more acceptable.
My 03 Convert Anniversary year came with ride control (elect mag shocks) 315 gears, 12 CD changer and Competition Button. No BSMs. Been a great car-deep black interior/exterior. Added Corsa's Pace Car cat backs and great sound on acceleration but quiet at highway speeds. Curious as to what they are worth now days here in Arizona with around 37K on the clock.
Yea, the car he bought looks like the one above, with 26232 miles on it. He had to have a roadster and a 6 speed AE car. We've been looking for a while. He originally wanted a car with less than 10,000 miles, but he is going to drive the car, not just look at it so I talked him into looking at some with a little higher miles. He's had a few Corvettes now. all have been roadsters and all but 1 were stick shifts. Me on the other hand, am a few years younger than him and wouldn't consider another stick shift car.
Excellent Corvette...I have a "03 vert triple black and love it. Sounds like you are more excited about this purchase than he is. Now you have someone to cruise with, right on. Greetings, Rob

Don't know about that. He's been on the phone with me every day since the trip. We are going to pick it up in the morning. Going to be a long day, 8 hr driving time up and back. He don't own a computer, so he'll never be on here. He says I'll get to drive it half way home, haha, we'll see about that. He has never drove a C5, not even a test drive before he bought it. I offered to let him drive mine last summer, but he declined, said he wasn't ready to buy just yet.
Welcome to the fraternity. You have not only bought the best car in the world but your choice of the '03 AE 'Vert is a testament to your good taste and sense of style.
