Default Blower Cam expert, your advice

Specs. 2001 z06 74,000 with A&A V2 and billy boat exhaust. Since I'll be doing fluid changes. I was thinking of putting a blower cam with components. Which cam is good for hp and not make my MPG take a nose dive ? Also should I change the valves ? Previous owner doesn't know history of car.

valves should not need replaced. I would look at new springs and retainers when you do a cam. Look at a few venders to see what blower cams they offer, blower/turbo cams are usually mild with little overlap unlike NA setups that use high lift/long duration and more overlap. have heard Brian Tooley is the cam guy on here recently.

LS6 cam is a pretty decent boost cam allready compared to LS1 but there is allways room to improve

Where are you located? A cam with lower overlap won't bleed off as much or loose as much driveability, feel free to call me to discuss details.

I have a brand new Lingenfelter GT2-3 cam n appropriate springs available for sale. Never Used. I was going to go FI route but changed my mind and went NA. CAM Specs - 207/220 .571/.578 w 1.7 rocker 118.5 CL. If interested, message me. At any rate, good luck n have fun with your build!

Not sure if there's enough difference between LS6 and GT1 to warrant the extra cost .

GT1 Camshaft 207/220 - .571/.578 Duration

LS6 204/211.525/0.525

02+ LS6 cam is your best bet in terms of hp gains but retaining gas mileage.

At the same time I'd have to question the cost factor for the added 10-15hp.

Youre better off with a smaller pulley and tune if youre looking for more ponies

Ask A&A, they sell blower cams and I'm sure they know how each type will behave etc.

Just keep in mind that naturally any cam is going to use more fuel than stock as it moves more air through the engine and thus requires more fuel, some are less efficient than others though ie large overlap.
