i have 98 corvette, i don't know much about this but
was the cd changer a option for the corvette back in the day how many of you still have yours?
what did you guys do with with your cd changer after installing a aftermarket stereo? is there a way to use the cd changer with a aftermarket stereo?
It was an option I'm pretty sure. In most cases they can be used with an after market HU, if the HU is compatible. But unless the HU has a separate controller for it, you won't be able to control it once it starts.
I don't know if they even make HU's that do control a changer anymore. Maybe.
I never had a changer, I use an Ipod. Had one on my Caddy and it was handy. Better sound quality with CD's.
Was an option on mine.. have 2 non working units actually. Got tired of it, so bought an adapter to plug in my phone instead. Now I can play pandora, or XM from my phone.
My '01 has the changer in one of the rear compartments. 12 CDs, works great thru the standard radio controls. No skips, jumps or distortion with the Bose system.
I'd like to put a cd changer in mine. My 02 camaro had the lead run back to the rear from the factory. Does the 04 Z06 have the wiring back there like my camaro did or no?
The window sticker on my '01 vert shows it as a $600 option as well. Still works great. It is a little finicky about CDs I've burned on my home computer.
I don't play CDs anymore but did buy a gizmo from Radio Shack that slips into the cassette tape slot that lets me play my MP3 player through the stock HU.
I have one in my 04 and it works well. I have a new double din Kenwood with navigation on order from doubledmods.com that should arrive in about a week, so I'll be selling mine. Makes no sense to use a CD changer with new technology.
I installed a changer in my Z06, which did not have them as an option. Since installing satellite radio, I almost never use it. I'll be doing a Double D mod soon and I guess at that time I might be uninstalling it, since it probably won't work anymore, unless I'm wrong about that. Probably won't need it, except I'll still have all those CD's.

My 98 had the option of one. I yanked it out to put in my Kenwood DD It did work just fine however. It's now sitting in my garage coincidentally in the same bin that I have an old Sega Genesis and games in :-) Never know one day it might be worth something (hoarder gene in me says)
