Not dumb at all. As a matter of fact, you have a whole lot of company on that idea!!!! How many times a night did you step out into the garage just to look at it the first week you had it?!?!? We've all done that one too!!
You don't have to buy the X-pipe, but it will sound a bit different. Some say it's kind of a "motorboat" sound.
I guess I got lucky, I bought mine last year and the exhaust was done, Corsa, and I'm leaving it alone.
Don't know where you live but the best advice would be to find a local Corvette club and hear what the guys are running. I've given plenty of guys rides in mine so they could hear first hand what it sounds like.
X-pipes are also supposed to stop or lessen the popping and gurgling noise on decel. Nice if you go with a loud system. Supposed to help in the scavenging effect too, which helps clear the cylinders of used air/fuel allowing more fresh charge to come in. Should raise power theoretically.

Thanks for the reply.... Sure merits giving some thought to... I'd hate for it to sound like an 86 cutlass with a Walmart performance glass pack!!!!!!

Not dumb at all, at least to the rest of us Corvette gals and guys. I've had C1, C3, C4, and most recently a C5 (we'll pick up this coming weekend) Corvettes. All told, ten of them over the years. And I've done that with every one of them. And when my wife and I are on the way home with the C5 and we stop en route so she can play the quarter slots, I'll be in the parking garage, beer in one hand and wax in the other. And I'll be standing back every 15 minutes or so to admire it.....and see if I missed any spots!

But I'm running the Corsa Indy Pace Cars on mine and they sound great and I do not have an X-pipe on the car. With the Corsa systems, I do not think you will have the popping and gurgling noises.
I am really considering the Corsa Extreme, but also have been reading up on the XS Performance exhaust, does anyone have any commits about it, are they o.k. or am I better off with the Corsa?

Half the fun of owning a Corvette is driving it and the other half is just sitting and looking at it and that's coming from a 65 year old grown *** man. Enjoy !
I have Corsa Extreme with Xpipe. You do not have to buy the xpipe with the Corsa system for to me it made sense since the Xpipe alone was over $300 and was only like another $100 with the muffler system. It is a great sounding exhaust (but I don't care for my soup too salty) it's not obnoxious at all at WOT it screams in a good way but normal driving it won't send women and children looking for cover or upset your neighbors every time you leave or come home. The best part though as every Corsa owner will tell you is that there is absolutely no drone whatsoever at any speed or rpm range. Do a search on youtube and you will find lots of comparisons between the system your looking at and stock. That will kinda give you some idea of what your looking at. I personally love my Corsa Extreme though and wouldn't trade it for anything however I am sure their are plenty of others that feel just as strongly about other systems.
