Anyone used Rock Auto for parts? Price for belts and idlers about half of other auto parts stores.
How is service and return policy?
thanks,
wj
Practically restored my 1990 Chevy pickup with their help. Good people and they ship it with FedEx so I have put in and order on Tuesday afternoon and was delivered on Wednesday afternoon ! Can't beat that kind of service !
Rock Auto has been such a great source for me that I rarely check any other auto parts source when I'm planning on doing some work on a car.
Unless its a specialty part, or I need the part NOW, I use Rock Auto.
Sometimes Ebay will have better deals... but its Ebay. I've never had an issue with Rock Auto, so I can't comment on their customer service, but they've always sent the right part on time, with a great price.

The Rock is one of my regular "go-to" sources for parts. Fast shipping as well. I'm starting to run out of room for refrigerator magnets.
If you need a current 5% discount code, which is good on any purchase, let me know. I recently bought something from them and the code I have is good through the end of April.
As someone else stated, Amazon is also another good source.
Another satisfied customer here. Recently needed an idle air control valve for the Mercruiser 7.4 liter MPI in my boat. Rock Auto actually has a page for Mercruiser applications on their web site. I was able to find the part locally for just over $100. Advance Auto said they could get it in a day. Rock Auto had it for $36, with shipping it was $43 and I had it in two days.
Just ordered a dimmer switch for my 68 from them. It is AC Delco and was a couple dollars cheaper than one of the Corvette specialty places. And shipping was $6 while the Corvette place wanted $16.
Rock Auto rocks. I posted this in a separate thread I started on the DC forum as well. I ordered the C6 Z51 sway bars from Gene @ GM Parts House. I checked underneath and saw the end links were toast.
So I ordered them from Rock Auto since the bars were already on the way from Gene. I ordered two Moog (metal) end links at 10 am on Friday, December 13th. They received and confirmed my order Friday morning via email. I asked for Priority Mail shipping, it was $5.60.
I got an email Friday at 3pm that they had shipped. WTF? Friday the 13th, five hours later and they shipped?
Went to the USPS link they gave me for my tracking #. Apparently the Moog end links I wanted were in a warehouse in San Bernardino, CA. I live 70 miles away in Whittier.
They were in my PMB on Saturday. They got here before the sway bars did.
Grand total of $43 w/shipping to me, and I wound up getting them in 25 hours.
Sorry, but overpriced shipping seems erroneous to me. That was my first Rock Auto order, I've placed two more since then.
I deliver for FEDEX and delivered to a manager of a major parts store parts from Rock Auto. He said he could not get the parts from has store as cheap as Rock auto. These parts were for his personal car.

I always use a 5% discount code, which makes shipping more tolerable.
Two issues. I needed an ac fan for a durango. Well they had 5 choices at various price points. Figuring you get what you pay for I chose a mid price four seasons because I'm familiar with the brand. Well I got the cheapest make but it was rebranded four seasons. Only difference was the cheapo had a one year warranty and four seasons was lifetime. I emailed and complained. They refunded the difference.
Another issue was the tension pulley for the vette. Part I received was different but the bearing as the same so i pressed out the bearing and put it in my factory pulley. Which reminds me that they sell a pot metal pulley to replace the plastic ac pullies. My local sources didn't offer metal
I love rock auto but check amazon and ebay first. Many times rock auto isn't the best deal

I always check every source available and Rock Auto is almost always the cheapest and they usually have a choice of multiple manufacturers. They have a great business model and should be around for a long time.

I've practically given up on Amazon simply because their faceted search is so horrible. Do a search on wheel bearing and you get 8 pages of results of women's underthings. RockAuto is just Make->Year->Model->Part Family->Part ... done deal. I'll pay the extra $2 for a website that doesn't waste my time the way Scamazon does.
