sounds funny, but I watch the people around me when I park, and if someone looks susiscious, I may actually "watch" my car for a few minutes before I even go into the store to see what they are doing. I always park at the far end of the lot and I still worry about immature punks like that. Sometimes its nice driving my piece of crap truck sometimes, because I dont have to worry about it. This lady at my job joked to me at my job yesterday that someone hit my car, because I was messing with her....she was kidding, but I immediately picked my keys up and started walking to the door. After she told me that, I said "You can mess with me about anything...but NOT MY VETTE!"! :mad I dont even have a Z06...I would go ballistic if I caught the punk. I'd hang him to dry after a severe beating. Sorry about your tragedy. Hope insurance covers it.

PS The only thing I know that does '****' some people off is taking up 2 parking spots. I know some people will key a car for taking up 2 spots, which I never do....I just park way out in East Butfukkk so hopefully they will leave it alone, or I'll park next to another vette or another nice car because I know they will have more respect for mine than some lady with 6 kids and a dog slamming the door open to put the groceries in her minivan.

Sorry to hear about this. That is awful. I hope the damage can be corrected without too much of a problem.

My Z06 is a garage queen during the week and I rarely leave it anywhere where I can't see it. There are just too many jealous people in this country. Luckily my wife agrees with me about not leaving the Z06 anywhere.

My daily driver is also pretty nice and I always try to park it next to an expensive sports car or an expensive German car. I never take 2 spots and I always try to find a spot with enough room to prevent door dings.

Good luck.

What Voltech_LT4 said!
I also so never park where a shopping cart can roll down hill and hit the car.

McRat,
Sorry to hear you got keyed.

Believe it or not, that's why I park in the middle of cars and risk the door dings at strip malls.

The conversation starts, "Hey, look at that dude parkin his car way out in the middle of nowhere just so his car won't get scratched! What a loser! Just for that, I'm gonna key his car!" I've seen more people go off on someone parking their nice car way out in the middle of nowhere, because they think the person that owns the car is too vain. But they would never pay one bit of attention to one in between two cars. In fact, they would probably say "cool car!"

I am sorry to hear this :mad Some people have no respect for other peoples property. Because they are jealous and unhappy they want to bring someone down to there level.

That is awful. Idiot people are everywhere. Many years ago I bought a new economy Plymouth product and got keyed with just a few miles on it. I certainly don't think it was jealousy, just some stupid kids with nothing better to do. Bad luck can hit anyone. Parking far away does seem to attract attention, especially in a town with a small percentage of 'nice' cars. I try to find that sweet spot that isn't too close, not too far away to look purposeful, and hopefully hear a light pole with no parking spot on the right hand side of the car. Also, I try to not park next to two door cars.

These days, more than ever you come across "underachiever bottom feeders". The only comfort I can offer is that you have the car, they don't, and they know they are unlikely to ever have such a toy.

Foretunately, a good bodyshop can do a perfect match and you'll eventually put it behind you.

But wouldn't you just love to catch one of these punks in the act.

Jacob

Time to watch Pulp Fiction again. I think Vinnie had the right attitude.

Thanks all!

I'm not going to do anything different. It was just poor luck.
I bought the car so me and wifey can go anywhere in it. It will get rock chips, tar, bugs, scratches, and door dings.

But the thought that there are other humans on the planet who think wrecking other peoples stuff is fun turns my stomach.

If I would have caught them doing it, I'd be posting from jail, so I guess it worked out for the best. :mad

:yesnod: I'll do this and also sometimes I'll stop, turn around and go back to my car making it look like I forgot something. I'm just  about this thing.

Wow Pat, so sorry to hear that. :nonod: The site of that might be enough to make someone totally :cry and then :U

But you guys seem to be taking it well and are apparently really enjoying the car otherwise so that's good.

I had a new car keyed once many years ago ... I'd still pound the crap out of the moron today if I found out who did it :yesnod:

Maybe someday when I'm real bored, I'll go park the Z out in the lot and just watch it for a few hours .... see what kind of "bottom feeders" I could reel in and have fun with. :D I'd bet they wouldn't ever think about doing it again. :smash: :smash: :mad :nono: :smash: :smash:

I do the same thing. Find a couple of BMW's or Mercedes or high rent whatever's and park between them. Those folks arent about to open their door into you, and no one will think you are an elitist jerkoff for parking out in the middle of nowhere. Sad f-ing state of affairs, I tell ya what.

But wait, if I park diagonally (backed in of course) across more than one space, will they leave me alone 'cause I'm "hooked up"?

Very sorry to hear that...I've had my share of vandalism in the past. I've gotten to the point that I just drive the Vette out of the garage, go for about a half hour drive, and bring her right back into the garage. It's a shame...but the bast*%#@ds are out there and they just love to ruin what you've worked hard to attain.

You know if they made keys out of hard plastic with a blunt tip...that would eliminate some of the keying problems.
