Nice! I never ceased to be amazed at the skills, time, and effort some can give to what pleases them, but other's might not even notice. I do! For me the car is fine as is, it's a driver's car. I don't need distractions beyond driving it, but yea in today's world of new car's and all their electronics it's a dinosaur. Now if you ever figure out a do-it-yourself solution for paddle shifter's and computer rev matching please let me know!
Good job! Just curious...How long did this take you to complete?
Thank you, I messed around with it on and off during the week If I was to add up the total time invested in it I'd have to say maybe 3 hours. Id say about 30 min a day or so for 5 or so days. I'd glue it then let it sit next day I sand that down put some filler on let it sit. next morning sand that down put a little filler on let it sit and so on.
WOW!! This is one of the best write-ups! I have seen a bunch of others but they never say what they use to hold everything together or what paints to use. Thanks a bunch and it looks GREAT!

It's important to get the right materials. I would not use stuff you find at the hardware store. Go to your local auto body supply or order online. Duramix 4747 is amazing stuff and bonds plastic together like it is one piece. You can also use Dura mix 4040 which I usually use but didn't have any. Set times is about 60 seconds with this stuff so you gotta work quick at putting it on but the good thing is you don't have to wait long to start sanding it.
Seems around me the more shops are carrying the SEM version of this epoxy and that would be the SEM problem plastic repair. The gun to use this stuff is about $50 or so but most shops from my experience will have a loaner gun to let you use with a deposit so that you don't have to buy one for a one time project. The gun has disposable mixing nozzles that pop on to the epoxy tube so when it comes out it is all mixed which is kinda important cause of the fast set times there would really be no way to mix this stuff and have time to apply it if you didn't have the gun dispenser.
As far as paints the SEM trim black is perfect for just about everything that is black on a car any kind of trim its a perfect match the Rocker panel spray will give you a texture that is as close as your going to get to factory looking interior grain texture.
After that just need some patience and a Dremel Worst case scenario you end up buying one already made.
*NOTE*
I personally find it easier however to cut the section of the bezel out then go ahead and get my Head unit mounted and centered in the console and in the bezel where I want it to be. I then glue the Head units trim plate (after sanding off the clips that clip it to the head unit) to the bezel then pop off the bezel and go to work on it. This way once its all finished it will go back on the same way it came off and I don't have to try make the Head unit fit the bezel. To me its just easier making the bezel fit the already mounted head unit instead of trying to mess with getting the head unit lined up to fit the already made bezel.
So guys, does that mean that if you are going to replace the double din head unit you definitely have to modify the bezel?
Probably yes, especially if I was to change brands and go with say an Alpine or Pioneer head unit instead of the Kenwood that I modified my bezel for. I seriously doubt swapping to a different head unit would still fit the bezel without modification again.
I gotta tell you they don't all go this well. When I purchased my latest C5 this mod had already been done. The had installed some model Pioneer Radio that it took me two days to figure out how to get a CD in the thing. I an sure that some of you wiz kids on here could have done that in 12 seconds, but hell I'm old. The double din modification had to be done by a Alligator with no tools at all. And then they painted it with what looks like a roller and maybe a brush and I am real sure they did use house paint.
