C6 shifter and ****, its cheap, is shorter and angled towards you a bit. Much more comfortable and the **** looks like it made for the car, unlike the stock truck looking shifter/**** combo...

I too have an '04 MY Z, love it.

The valve spring failure issue is vary rare on the 2004 Z06s. If the motor is stock, the stock springs should be OK in the 2004. 2002 and 2003 have the majority of spring failures by a long shot.

Enjoy that Zee!

I recently purchased a 2003 Yellow Z06 with 64,300 miles. It already has a Vararam intake, LG longtube headers & X-pipe, stock catback exhaust, a shorty shifter, and some audio modifications. The car is basically in great shape but does have a few issues, like a cracked HUD bezel, missing door access covers, a bad reverse lock-out solenoid, etc. But part of the fun of this "hobby" is fixing the car up! I just installed a set of SS screws, replaced the back-up LED bulbs, installed some tire valve-stem caps, etc. I'll address issues every week until the car is showroom ready!

Column lock bypass is a must! If it has not been done already.. It Can and WILL leave you stranded.

You have an 04--best fuel system, best suspension, best engine bits, just the best, period. Yours has low miles.

What I would do is get a nice set of new rubber, change all of my fluids and the air filter, if you cannot determine that they are fresh, by a skip shift eliminator plug, and enjoy it for a while. Do get your dealer to confirm if the column lock bypass recall has been done on this car.

It is a great car just as it is, and the more you drive it fast, the faster that ECU will get. It can scare you at full song right now.

Just my $.02!
