I ordered an MGW for my C5 today and searched for information on the reduction in height from stock. Can't seem to locate anything on the MGW site and I found two threads here mentioning 1.8" but the pics in the thread don't work. Need to know so I can order a new shift boot @ Redline.
Does anybody know for sure what the height reduction is?
The MGW shifter height is adjustable but 2 inches would be average reduction I am thinking. Don't panic as you can install the boot without removing the console. I reworked the stock boot by removing the staples on plastic hoop and reinstalling boot about 2 inches lower on hoop. Till it would not pull down on the hoop. Easy
Here's my MGW shifter with an offset C6 shaft threaded to fit a C5 (Delrin) ****. The shaft was shortened an additional 5/8". A RedlineGoods boot was made 1" shorter than stock, stapled on the stock ring in the original position.

I ordered the C5 and C6 shaft for the MGW. For $15, I figured I'd have some options. When you say "offset C6 shaft" what does that mean exactly?
Do you have a link for that shift ****? It looks great!
Thanks for sharing guys. These threads are very helpful figuring out style before opening the wallet.
My MGW shifter is a previous generation than what they're currently selling, if I'm not mistaken. You had the option of a threaded, straight up C5 shaft, or an offset C6 shaft that was keyed for a set screw ****. I got George to send me the offset shaft, but threaded for a C5 ****. The offset (about 1") allows you to move the **** closer or further away from you. You just have a bit more adjustment available than you would if the **** was straight up from the shifter. I have mine offset to about the 7-8 o'clock position, which brings the **** a little closer to me.
I found the **** on fleabay - there are a lot of different styles and sizes there. Do a search on "C5 Corvette delrin shift ****" and you'll have plenty from which to pick.

Did you zip tie the underside of the boot to the bottom of the ****?
