Default New tires need help!

So I'm in the market for some new tires for my stock wheels. Really don't wanna spend the money for the PS2s and seems the only other option in stock sizes are the Bridgestone potenzas. I notice there are many options if you go with 275 up front. Need help deciding here I am mostly using the car for nice weather days and not planning on beating on it at all. Do I go with the potenzas? Are the 275s side walls gonna look funny? Any insight and possible pictures are appreciated, thanks.

For what it is worth, I had RE050s on my Porsche Cayman S and I thought they were good rubber. Stock Z06 fitment is a pain, but you are only 10 mm large at 275 so I doubt it will be an issue. Perhaps others can chime in.

275's up front fit just fine, they dont look off at all imo. Running NT05's in 275's up front, 295's in back. Great tire btw, the car is not a dd.

Just priced Bridgestone S-04s at Tire Rack, 255-40-17f, 285-35-18 rear, 866.93 shipped to my location. I realize this is going smaller, but it sounds pretty good and these tires got great reviews. Stagger seems right, too. I 'd check it out--heck, I may order these.

Thoughts?

I like Continental DW as a street tire option for the stock wheels. 275/40/17 and 295/35/18 set is $828 shipped to my house from Tire Rack.

For some reason you get more search results when searching for the front and rear tire sizes separately than searching for them as a set. I don't know why.

Right. If you drive it in the winter you'll need a separate set of wheels and tires but that is the case with any of these options. You could switch to an all-season compound like the Continental DWS but that seems silly on a Z06 to me. The DWS has significantly less grip in both the dry and wet than the DW all in the name of having some cold/snow traction.

Do a search - my recollection is that pretty much everyone who has tried this tire like them.

Yes, the 275's sidewall is noticeably taller than the 295/35/18. I don't care for that and would stay with a 265 front tire.

Toyo Proxes 1 are available in OEM sizes.

Just purchased SP500s and went with Bstones RE-11s. I went with 19x11.5 with 305-30s on the rear and 18x9.5 with 275-35s in the front. Here is my observation. I wish I would have went with 265s. Comparing the look between the front and rear, the tread is wider on the fronts than the rears which give the front a little blockier look. The rears "roll over" from the sidewall to the tread.

What I don't like about the 275/35/18 is the sidewall is noticeably taller than the 305/30/19. I have a 265/35/18 & 305/30/19 tire combo on my car.

i just picked up the potenzas 295/35/18 a few weeks ago for $126 each including shipping. (tire hero website) had them installed on the rear but my car is still on the jack stands until the snow is gone. i grabbed two sets because they were such a good deal. the production date is late 2008, but they will serve me fine for daily driving

Three weeks ago I put the Bridgestone Potenza RE760 on my 02 Z06. I only drive the car on nice sunny days and so far put about 200 miles on them. They really stick and the car handles great compared to the Toyo tires. I purchased all 4 tires at Discount Tire and out the door price was $779.00. Being a returning customer and a Veteran gave me special discounts that I really appreciated. I highly recommend this tire.

Your front tires are fine (and they aren't wider), it's the rears that are the problem. That's because you're using the wrong size wheels for the tire (it accepts it, but that wheel is on the very bottom of the range). The 305's fit fine on an OEM C5Z 10.5 wheel, but you're stretching the tread a bit to get it to fit on a wider 11.5 wheel...which is going to look horrible and probably not functional quite as well since you're deforming the shoulders (the rounded look).

Excellent tire and a great price too. Overall excellent ratings. Call Fairmount Tire in L.A., ask for Brad, tell him you're on Corvetteforum. Great service from him. 323-750-2840. Everyone who uses them is very happy.
