Hello, I recently inherited my dads 1998 C5. It's the greatest gift and best memories I have of him.
It is a torch red base model with about 110k mi. Tan interior.
I remember him saying that he wanted to make modifications to it. I would like to see his vision become reality. Although a supercharger would be awesome, it would be cost prohibitive. I would still like to modify suspension and increase power by about 100Hp. But a tight budget has limitations.
Any suggestions?

If he wanted to mod it, fulfill his dream. A good set of LT headers, heads and cam and a better air intake will give you a nice bump in power - perhaps not 100 more but some that you will notice the difference. Sorry to hear about your father too - may he rest in peace.
It's going to take a lot of money to keep the car in tip top condition for the next thirty years. Think about that before you put so much money into modding it that you can't afford to keep it anymore. Twenty years down the road you will want it just like it was when your Dad had it.

I respectfully disagree. Maintance costs will not change with or without some basic modifications. OP wanted to fullfill his Dad's wishes. If he wants to step the car up like his Dad wanted, I am standing by to help him. Basic Mods can be done over time and on a budget.

I believe if his Dad would have wanted to modify the car he would have. It is going to cost a lot of money over the years to keep the car in good original shape without any mods. If he mods the car it won't last long in my opinion and it won't be his Dads car anymore. When my Dad died in '85 I got his old Ford pick-up. I wish I had it today exactly like he left it, but it's long gone. It's up to him, but in the long run, say 20 years down the road, he may be sorry for not keeping it the way his Dad left it. The car is special as is. I would try to keep it that way.

I am only offering to help the OP with any path HE chooses, not us CF opinion givers.
