Default C5 Z06 Half Shaft

I am getting a lot of clicking noises from my driverside (left) rear wheel area when I move from a complete stop, or going from forward to reverse, etc. I believe I have to replace my half shaft. I am guessing my best bet would be to get a GM part. So my question is.. where would be the best place for me to buy this online and what should I expect to spend?

Any help would be appreciated!

Check the axle nut before buying a half shaft. I was getting a lot of clicking/clunking and it turned out to be this nut. Check it by rocking the car (by rocking the tire with the car on the ground) and listening for a click in the hub area. Tighten nut to 118 foot pounds (I think) and see if that clears the problem. There are threads on the forum about this problem.

I tightened the axel nut and the sound went away for a couple days, but now it is back. Would this lead to thinking its not necessary for me to change the half shaft?

I can't really say for sure, but it sounds like this is still your problem. I have read on the forum where some recommend replacing the axle nut anytime you remove one. You might try that and/or some locktite (not sure what kind but you can probably find recommendations if you search the forum. Also make sure you torque the axle nut (118 ft-lbs IIRC).

I think it's recommended to replace the nut. I had the ticking sound too on the driver's side and followed this guide to grease the splines: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/1563995880-post32.html

The sound hasn't come back.
