My pops always swore by the C5('00 daily driver), even buying a '04 at last minute before C6 production Kicked off. I've never been around anything newer than the C5's, what are some of the differences(other than headlights) and which are better/more fun to modify or tinker on? I'm just curious? I'd include c7 but it's wayy out of my price range right now!

The c-5 is beautiful, the c-6 is not that great looking, [I.MH.O.] of course. I thought the c-6 was ugly until the c-7came out, It is so "Fugly" it has managed to make the c-6 look good!

That was his view as well. Although he was preparing to order the new stingray(based on Transformers concept car)when he passed, he never really got into the 6 or 7. I guess I'm just biased bc of upbringing. I agree on the c7 tho, there just seems to be too much going on& the rear end looks odd.
Each generation has its pluses and minuses, it's a personal thing in the end. I try not to disparage another generation because in the end, they are all Corvettes. In fact, I'd like one of each.

I love my c5 and the looks of it. However I also personally love the looks of the c6 for the most part that is. The one thing I really can't stand about the c6 is the headlights they just remind me of the old 3000gt Mitsubishi headlights or something along those lines I think they look horrible. As time passes I can't see them aging well. Some say the curves and lines of the c6 are overdone and too much. I However love the sharper edges and lines on the c6

It's been an evolution . . .suspension and driveline is pretty similar . . more power, better handing . . .a different look that some like and obviously- others don't.
Had my C6 for about 5 years and thought it was a lot of fun - - fell into the current C5 and am enjoying it more than I thought I would.
If we downsize the house and I lose the 4 car garage- will probably sell the daily driver and the C5 for a C6 - - -not loving the C7 yet.
I've been told the C6/C7 interiors are (or at least feel) smaller, but I've never been able to figure out where the space went, since the wheelbase didn't change much. Anyone care to enlighten me?

I can't give the specifics BUT When you sit in one it sure seems smaller with less room overall! The c-6 beside of a c-5 seems to have sharper angles but I do like the headlights as there is less to go wrong with them.
I've read somewhere that the C6 is narrower and also has a noisier interior as compared to the C5. For me, from a funding perspective, I could have chosen to go to a C6. However, it was the big *** end styling and folding headlights of the C5 that finally won me over.

That's my goal! The C6 is a more refined evolutionary step up from the C5. Styling is subjective. I can tell you the C6 LS3 is a bit more torquier and has quicker acceleration over the LS1. It's always a good rule of thumb to buy the most Vette you can afford. I love both!
What kind of C5 you looking for? Base? Z06? and what C6 base? Z06? To me i like the looks and feels of my C5 Z06. there is just something about it i love.
I love my C5 Z06 and would not trade for a base C6. They just have no appeal to me at all. Will not beat the 02-04 Z06 either in terms of performance, even though the ls 3 versions have a little more power, but weigh more.
The only C6's that do have appeal are the Grand Sports, Z06, and of course ZR-1. The wide body C6 looks good and the C6 Z06 and ZR1 are world class supercars.
Would not trade my C5 Z06 for a Grand Sport, but looks wise they look good. Still too high and if I were to get a C6, it would be a low mileage Z06.
The LS3 is a strong motor and mods well. The base C6 however just looks half baked.

I'm always surprised that on a Corvette Forum there are so many that are eager to berate another gen. If this were a Ford Forum I might understand it, but it's not.
Is the Corvette perfect, no. Is there any car out there that is, no. My car has been my dream since I was about 10 and I'm glad there's finally one in my garage. I'm hoping to make it two!

I didn't like the c4 much until I bought my c5z. Somehow owning my car made me realize that my z was just an evolution of the c4, and now I can't get enough of c4's. I will disagree with you though, my corvette is perfect!
With respect, the C4 and C5 you really can't compare much.
The chassis, suspension, transaxle, engine tech, basic layout, etc are all very different c4 to c5.
The C6 isn't that different from the C5 in those areas.C6 Z06 frame and Ls7 being the most different.

I have both a C4 & C5, I got the C4 first and love it for IMO the finished squared off look, the back end to me looks finished, and always known in my life time corvettes with pop-up headlights. When I got the C5 3 months later, I loved again the finished look, but its a bit more rounded then squared off.
Now 5 months later I'm debating on adding to my family the C6. The C6 at first didnt appeal to me because it doesnt look finished, shorter body, and clearly the backend being shorter is where they trimmed from, I agree the front also does look like a GT3000, its even more rounder IMO then the C5, but liking it has creeped up on me. Overall the car is nice, but the cockpit and the tail has taken a hold of me.
The C7 I agree not so much, Love the cockpit but aside of that the outer body to me looks like a cross between a camaro and a acrua nsx, not overly liking the design, the tail lights definitely look too similar like a camaro. I seen some of the concept designs before the official C7, I think IMO they should have leaned more toward the concept style but again opinions are like A--holes, everyone has one.
