Finally got the 2000 and may run into a race or two this week. My cars stock, A4 with Goodyears . Save me the learning curve. What's the best way to launch?
Set Competitive Driving on. Launch at half throttle against brake. Then WOT. Leave it in Drive. Factory shift will be more consistent than manual shift. Tires and track conditions will dictate how much throttle against brake. Take your first couple of passes to figure that out.
Hold brake and give it throttle, stock tq converter will only stall up so high. Rev up in 500 rpm increments above idle then +500 each time an try launching and see where your car hooks best. Then try pressing the gas pedal down at different quicknesses, you can feather it faster or slower to keep traction. You can keep traction best finding the sweet spot between how much Rpm's to launch at and how quick to get to WOT, couple try's will get you setup well. Keep in mind each road will react differently I launches... Good pavement will hook better then bad pavement and black top will react different then concrete
Launch on the street=impossible. 3/10's throttle on 2:73 with Hankooks will spin the tires.
At the track=Floor it right off the line lol. I revved mine to 1,500rpms but I bet not revving it at all would be better. I ran a pretty good time at the track in heat with only 2:73's.
For a near stock car and street tires I always got my best times leaving TC on and stalling it out as best as possible. With sticky tires, TC will only slow you down.
