I've talked with the guy that owns the Z06 and I've been able to talk him down to 24500, and the Z51 I can get for 19000. Both the cars are in perfect condition, I had the z06 up on a lift and you could literally eat off the bottom of it. Absolutely no issues with either of them. I just need to decide if the ls6 and other z06 related improvements are worth it. I am going to be tracking the car but I am not too too concerned with the lack of power, I'm more concerned with the breaks and suspension and I think the fact that the other corvette has the z51 package and Z06 wheels does a lot to close the gap but may be mistaken.

Anyway any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
2001 coupe. better looking and the extra money you will save you could do alot of mods if you would like to.

WTF ever... I get so tired of these ridiculous statements... 01's w oil, 02-04's w valve springs...My 01 wasn't an oil burner... I know guys w 02's, 03's, 04's that have not had issues w valve springs...

Back to OP... I am a fan of the MY C5z's... My second fav color.

I think if you shop around you can find a better price... Those seem pretty high to me...

I agree with 0H1ZO6, both seem over priced and my 01 ZO6 did not burn oil or have any problems! It went to fast at times but that was about it.

The only issues I've had so far have been electrical and that can be expected with an older car. All of that will be solved tomorrow though

Lots of factors, I personally like being able to take off my hood. Plus if you factor in the price difference between the C5 and the Z, you could use that money saved and mod it to outperform the Z easy.

So you would save 5500$ if you buy that Z51, so put that extra 5500$ into the Z51 and make it faster then the zo6.

isn't the z06 essentially just a lighter c5 with an aluminum block LS1?

I'm partial to silver. But in this case, if both are in excellent shape, and you have the $$$, I'd go with the Z, only because it's a newer model car.

I wouldn't let a 'few' miles sway me, either way. But two years newer model is an important consideration. Updates and improvements were made, each year throughout the run of C5 (form 97 thru 04). This it true with every generation of Corvette.

Slap an A&A supercharger on either, and you can now run with the big boys, in what is already a world class car, which will be a head turner for many many years.

If you get the Z, lose the BSM's. (body side moldings) (IMHO)

But also, you can shop around. Be patient. Don't limit yourself to just these two, unless one is perfect for you!

Upgraded suspension and they have ls6's never looked into zo6's because I find them over priced for an extra 65 horse power.

You guys are all wrong, there are so many differences. Everything is lighter, different engine, different clutch, different transmission, different exhaust, intake, wheels, tires, even the glass is lighter. Go with what you like, after riding in a coupe with more power than a z, I opted for a z because I liked it more.

Z06 is what I have. Had a base coupe previously, if that gives you any indication.

Both are fantastic cars, but my Z06 is the BOMB!
