Ok so today I was going to change the oil. I started by using my floor jack to lift up the car to put jack stands under it. As im getting the jack stand under the car the wheel on my floor jack break and the front right fender caught the edge of the jack stand and cracked the front right fender right behind the front wheel. I wanted to cry like a baby. I was told it would take 3-4 days to fix. Is this an easy fix? do i need a new fender? I'm just worried about them fading the paint and it not matching, but this guy im taking it to does really good work. Is this something i should worry about or is it a easy fix?
Sorry about your accident but just remember it was a freak accident, a jack wheel breaking. How many times have you ever heard of a jack wheel breaking?
I'm betting that it was a cheap Harbor Freight jack. Just think what a quality jack you could have bought for $500. I do feel for you but the repair should go ok. Red is not as hard to match as some other colors. If it were me , I would just get a used fender and install it yourself. Not hard to do and you will save some money. Might be able to even get one the right color with no damage to paint. Used fenders are everywhere and they are cheap. Not worth repairing that fender.
I know that sinking feeling, it's like slow motion when it happens. I was backing out of my garage and as we all know the garage opening gets small as you back out, caught the passenger side mirror..... $429.'s and all was well. You and the car will be fine once the repair is done
OOPS ! Just read that it wasn't a Harbor Freight but was a Sears. My wife is a manager at Sears . I just showed this to her and she said that if you contact the manufacturer they will probably put in a liability claim for your damage. Send them pictures and explain what happened . They will probably just be thankful that you didn't have injuries and will pay for the damages.
