Last Ijsut purchased my first Vette 98 silver targa roof, low milage, body and paint Good/ VG, internal is ok could be better but for a car Thought all and all it was great! I went a small car show with friends, was not expecting to see much there, but was very suprised at the number of cars there. As I was looking at them I came across a 98 silver vette, same color, year execpt it was a convertable. It was pretty much a show car great condition, mine paled in comparasion to it, body and especially the interior.
From then on I have been obcessed on getting mine in that type of condition if possible. Anyone run into this as well where is see another Vette that looks a lot better than yours and you now want the same look?
It's pretty tuff in here with some of these cars I see that are just mind boggling with custom stuff. Some cars are just works of art. James2002z06 has one of the sweetest looking Z's I have EVER seen and my ride pales in comparison beside it(no contest) so don't worry and enjoy what you have.
Start with doing what you can and just be proud of your ride and learn more as you go along. Join a local car club and you might meet the best people you've ever known. We joined East Texas Corvette Club and have come to make the best friends we have ever met and do lot's of charity work, besides helping one another with our love of Corvettes.
I don't think I've ever had car envy. There are some absolutely stunning cars on this forum, but I'm very happy with mine. I've done quite a bit to it and have it just about the way I want it . . . for now. We all do things a little differently, which is what makes the Corvette passion so awesome. Admittedly, I'm a little envious of some of the personal talent here. When I saw the pictures that sfc rick posted of his new door leathers and his plan to install them himself, I was envious. I wish I was that talented or at the very least, had the cojones to try it.
Not envy, but appreciation of another's customization
I bought my 2004 vert new the summer of 2004. It was then garaged for close to 1.5 years as I moved my family 1200 miles and I was commuting for half that time.
In 2008, I joined this forum and I also joined a local Corvette club and went to my first Corvette show. Although I had a nice, clean bone stock C5 vert, I was blown away by all of the fantastic customized Corvettes.
I remember seeing a 2003 Anniversary Red convertible with a custom Vette Essentials interior, a Caravaggio spoiler, custom champaigne CCW wheels, a modified engine bay and other great subtle mods. I didn't have a camera or smartphone that day to take a picture, but it was definitely my "mod moment" which has led me to where I'm at today.
Remember, it's not an investment, it's a hobby! Enjoy it!
I can see what you mean by car envy however, its your car and its a VETTE! not many people can even afford one as most people look at them as frivolous luxurious items that have no practicality to them...
Be proud of what you have and make some small changes here and there to make it more your car...I have a bone stock 97 coupe and plan on changing a few things but it'll take a year or two to get it all done properly min. so just enjoy the ride
Look at sfc Rick talking bout envy ....In case you didn't know ARODMAN Mr. Rick there has one of if not the most modded car on the forum. We are all envious of his wicked C5!!!
you got yourself a cool car that will get plenty of attention all by itself totally stock if you do nothing more than just keep it clean. I am up to my neck in mods that are paid for and just waiting to get done. I still love my car with the few that it has and I proudly show off everything I do. I'm always torn when I mod something cause these care really don't "need" much of anything. We all mod things cause we want to not because we need to and that can't be said for many cars out there in this price range. Enjoy it and take your time cause mods can get awful pricey and I guarantee that guys silver c5 you saw didn't just happen over night and it started off just like yours. Have fun man and congrats!
BTW I have picture of the Red C5 that I drool over on my computer, my phone, my ipad, EVERYWHERE that I look at all the time and my goal is to get there and make mine similar but make it my own at the same time. Your without a doubt not the only one with envy my friend

I get lots of good ideas from seeing what others have done to their cars. Some things I like and follow through on, others it is just a matter of taste. Nothing wrong with wanting to upgrade the look of your car through some mods though.

So much is subject to taste, ability and funds. Rick has done a lot of the work himself, as have I. For me to be envious of someone willing/able to spend the $$$ on mods done for them would be foolish. Besides it gives me something to shoot for!
been their done that, yes i wish mine would look as good as some other, dayum you can blind yourself with some of the gloss/shine on the cars
very cool, indeed
I will tackle a job even if I've never done it before. I can only screw it up if I try, but when it's a homerun.....I know the reward of doing it myself. I even built my own home having no actual carpentry skills.....which I learned on the job...Hehehehe.

It isn't a McMansion but it is by my own hands.
Yeah? Well you did a pretty good job my friend. If you didn't have carpentry skills, you do now!
