TPMS Upgrade Success!
Re-flowed soldered inside FOB a couple of times per instructions with no real positive result. FOB would synch then forget within 10 minutes.
I bought aftermarket used rims with TPMS sensors not knowing at the time that the model years made a difference. Put new Nitto's on the new to me rims and was told by the Chevy dealer that my TPMS were dead all the way around. Shoot, I should have had him transfer my known good ones to the new rims. I worked out a $60 deal that I could bring my car back and they would swap the TPM sensors out for me.
I figured at tax time I would get the $400+ upgrade from our forum vendor which I did last week. A rainy Saturday eliminated my golf date, so I set to work changing the module over and seeing how a new FOB worked.
About an hour and a half to remove the old and wire the new in. After the install I jumped inside the car to train the FOB and presto the new FOB worked. So, I figured nothing lost to see if the new to me TPM sensors inside the rims I bought just might be the new style, so I grabbed a small earth magnet and went to the left front - HONK!, quickly to the right front, right rear, and finally left rear and all trained to the new module. Wow, lucky day!
I boxed the new TPM sensors up and marked the box and put it up on the shelf for later use.
The new upgrade does not come with instructions so I had to google the job even to find where the old module lived along with needed instructions on how to get to it and wire the new module in. If it's not against forum policy to show a URL this is the one I used. http://www.vetteweb.com/tech/vemp_12...ogramming.html and it walked me right thru the job with verbiage and pictures.
So, if you have thought about it, I found it's not a hard job, the convertible tonneau lifts up and allows free access to the module location behind the drivers seat above the speaker area and there is plenty of room in there to do the wiring.
I'm happy!
