I have had the 1.5 ton aluminum one that I carry with me to the track for over 5 yrs. It has done fine there and at home. I ended getting the 3 ton one a couple of years ago. Much heavier and not really portable, but it is much less work for it raising car in garage. If you are not carrying the jack anywhere, I would recommend the 3 ton. I am using mine 2-4 times a month switching out rotors and brakes with no issues for either one.
