Default First Start...Dead Battery

Battery was on my CTEK charger all winter, except when we were not home. Unplugged it this morning when I left for work. Went to start it late this afternoon, and clickty-click-click. Put the CTEK on the snowflake and 30 mins later it started, but I think the battery is toast.

I think you're right - as long as the battery tender is working properly, it sounds like your battery went bad over the winter.

Another reason not to keep the battery in the car over the winter. It could have froze, cracked the case and spilled acid.
Not to mention what that outside current through the dead battery was doing to the cars electronics.

Car is my heated garage, so no freezing. Walk by it every day.

OK. I wonder what happens to the cars electronics with that tender sending current through the dead battery for months at a time. Can't be good.

Battery did recharge. Just leaving it off the tender for a day makes it too weak.
