Default Z06 Markups?

I have a quick question
has anyone heard of dealer mark ups on the Z06 since it's introduction?
I know when the ZR1 came out it had mark up over 30k or so ive read.
Can anyone help me out on this one?

When the Z06 was first introduced the summer of '00 there were cases of guys paying $10K over sticker, maybe more. Silicon valley seemed to be one of the biggest gouges, as there was still plenty of stock option money up there in late '00, but it dried up pretty soon after. There were big markup stories coming out of Dallas too, but I can't remember what anyone admitted paying.

I think markups on new Corvettes is a thing of the past until the new C6 production starts up. In 1997 and 98 every dealer I went to was asking at least a 5K market adjustment fee to the sticker price. I know alot of dealers were doing the same when the 2001 Z started up but I have not heard of any markups since the arrival of the new 01 Z06. Anyone who pays a premium over sticker price is a damn fool IMHO.

Dealer markups are still real common, at least on the West Coast. Most of us dealers/brokers here on the Forum can find you $3K-4K off on new ones. Expect to pay $43-44 for a used '02, and $38-39 for an '01.

There's several dealerships in the Dallas area who are still asking $5k over MSRP. Not sure who's paying it, but they seem to move them.

When the '02 Z06 was first released I was quoted as high as $15K over sticker by a Dallas dealer (don't remember which one) and found markups(read GOUGES) from $2 to 10K common all over DFW and Houston. Don't know who is paying that, I waited and got mine for $45.5K.... :D

They are still tacking $5k onto Z06's here in Albuquerque ... so I just bought mine out of Michigan and had it shipped down here. Saw an EB Z06 sitting in the showroom with a sticker of $58k.

$10,000 markup??? We should organize a stake-out and photograph the buyers of these cars. Then induct them into either 1 of 2 clubs: Rich Guys who use paper money in their fireplace instead of wood, or Guys who like to get reamed from behind! :D

Sounds like a mighty fine idea to me.
I tried to make a deal on a new 98 coupe when they hit the showrooms. The dealer wanted a $5000 markup and woudn't back down to sticker. I told him to shove his deal up___ ___ and I waited until this year to get a C5.

Didn't the Chrysler dealers get their be hinds in a slinger by doing markups on the PT Cruser and for selling a presold unit to a higher bidder.

I just purchased a new QS '02 Z06 in So Ca over the 4th of July weekend. I ended up getting mine for $ 52K out the door, however, this included 0 down, 36 month, 0 % interest. Without that , it was $ 51 K out the door. That figures out to about $ 47 K before tax and license. ( .875 % sales tax where I live ). Basically, a reasonably good deal for Ca. However, I had quotes from what I paid all the way up to, get this, if you are sitting down, list plus $ 2.5 K over minus the $ 1 K rebate. Out of about 7 dealers that had 2002 Z06's sitting on the showroom floor, 1 would go about $ 3 K under list, most wanted list and no rebate, and then that 1 dummy that wanted @ 2.5 K over list, minus the $ 1 K rebate. That would have been about $ $ 57.5 K out the door. Waving a check, indicating your seriousness, in front of their noses seems to bring some of them to their senses, but not all. Evidently, there is way too much money floating around Sacramento.

Up here in Canada my 02 MY Z06 with all options listed at 72.3K Canadian. I was able to get a deal on it and seems all the cars I have seen up here go for sticker price or a little less. I am told that the 03 version of my car will be around 80K. That doesn't include taxes(another 15%)
