I checked his "forum member" personal information a couple of weeks ago. It included a note stating Bill would no longer comment on Forum website postings, although he would respond to Forum private messages.

Read into that what you will...I think he got tired of being set upon by the whippersnappers.

His peace is our loss.

I've got your back James. I'm only here since 2011, so I've seen lots of unnecessary negativity and don't like it.

Not sure I fully understand "why" every couple of months someone starts an Evil Twin thread? "Where is ET"? "I miss ET".. "ET phone home".. People have opinions, their own opinions.. and you know what people say about that. Gotta have thick skin on this forum.. I have been skinned a few times myself. The way I see it, the guy was/is no different than any of the other Corvette enthusiasts on this forum. Was he knowledgeable? Absolutely... Will the Forum cease to exist because he no longer posts or replies? Time will tell...

Funny thing is this is seriously one of the tamest forums I am part of. There is always going to be some negativity on a public forum, but this one compared to others is very very tame. Some times it's almost fake, with people being too scared to offer constructive criticism (read: not bashing but actual constructive feedback).

Many other automotive forums you really do need thick skin, but around here not so much comparatively.

You also have to remember that the C5 can be had cheaper than a civic nowadays and with that will often come less mature or polite posters.

Although the C5 generation is still going strong, many members have moved onto C6 or even C7s. The rest of us, like ET, sometimes just need a break now and then. How many times can we discuss BSMs, column lock, rear spoilers, HID lighting, double din NAVs, CAIs, exhaust, suspension, the pros and cons of putting the convertible top back up when parked, etc.?

I know my postings are way down since I completed my planned mods and I'm pretty much in maintenance mode until I add a C7 to the stable. However, I still try to post comments to help other members, but rarely start new threads.

I too have backed off since I'm in the maintain mode. As far as ET is concerned I'm sure he's got bigger fish to fry than responding to negative posts from yahoos.

Things have changed since I joined but I guess that happens to all things over time. Not saying it is all good, but I'm not surprised.

And yes, E-T is a wealth of knowledge, but if he chooses not to post anymore, that's his decision and I respect that.

ET is certainly knowledgeable and while him not posting is a little knowledge loss, he wasstarting to become really rude to people. Anyone that disagreed with him in the slightest would get a speech about how he personally helped create the c5 and how all knowing he was. I got to the point where I would avoid threads he was in.

On the flip side, you have someone like Toque who I would argue is just as knowledgeable and is still constantly polite to people.

At the end of the day we have a great community with tons of really smart people. Sad that he felt he had to leave but perhaps he will be more relaxed when he returns. Sometimes we just need a break from things no matter how much fun they are.

You don't want to disagree with Toque's opinions either.

I'm relatively new to the forum and to vettes, but I agree with this post wholeheartedly. ET has an immense knowledge but I've seen multiple threads where he becomes angry or lashes out at someone who just disagrees with him, and he has taken it as a personal attack. I will always respect what he has contributed to the forum and the history of corvettes but I do feel he is sometimes really bitter.

The last 2 or 3 replies here are pretty much spot on. ET went to the dark side. He'd pretty much start a fight then take his ball and go home.

Anyways I'm thinking of putting an cold air intake on my car, is a Vararam a good choice?

Can my car run with 87 octane gasoline? What if it's just a couple tanks?? I'm trying to save a few bucks this month.
