Default Valve spring failure

Found out my Z06 suffered the dreaded valve spring failure. Turns out I got lucky and the valve didn't drop. The shop I have it at said I'm about the luckiest person they have seen.

Very lucky it sounds like!

Hope to have mine replaced soon as a preventative measure. Scary.

Many of the stock springs were yellow, 02's were at the biggest risk of failure along with early model year 03's, which mine was. Replaced mine shortly after buying it two years ago.

You are lucky. My failure cost $11k...however that replacement has been great. A 383 stroker and new clutch.

Went from mid 11's to mid 10's

I don't have you on the master list. If your engine was stock when the valve spring failed, can you also post or PM me the last 5 digits of your VIN?

Good time to upgrade to beehives with titanium retainers and chromoly push rods.

I don't have the VIN available right now. Turns out I must have been lucky. I have my fun with the car but I don't tend to race it. It's now getting new valve springs, a tune, and longtubes/xpipe from Texas Speed.

I had a PRC dual valvespring break on my Z06 when it had the MS3... fortunately the other coil held things together until we figured it out. It was floating valves on the dyno at only 5200rpm or so, and still made 360rwhp in spite of the problem.

I don't know the exact valve springs as I ordered them through a local shop but its PRC stuff. I plan to get it figured out but it will probably be a little while this particular shop is very busy.
