Everything that has happened as outlined in this thread has happened to me and the previous owner. She got the worst end of the deal and had to spend over $3000. Mine broke but I didn't lose the valve. I replaced my springs with Comp 918 (or 981; don't remember for sure) two years ago. I recommend if you own one of the affected cars go change them. I bought a valve tool from Jegs for under $100 and did them myself in one day. I used air pressure to hold the valves up and it worked great.

I have no idea if mine were ever replaced by one of the 2 previous owners, but in the next couple of weeks, I've got a cam, new push rods, springs and lifters going in. So looks like I'll be fixing it regardless!
