Fixing to replace the tires on my 04 and looking for some recommendations. I am very partial to Michelins, so that is the brand I will probably use. The main thing I want to do is lower the noise level that these Goodyear OE's produce. I live in the south, so I never drive in snow or ice, and I'm not a racer, just general driving. What do you think.

I have the Hankook Ventus V12 non-run flats and am very happy with the ride. You can do a search on this forum and see what others are using as well. Zuti
Run flat or not? Most on the Forum will say to go non run flat. They are cheaper and quieter for sure. Do any females drive the car? What happens if they get a flat? If I were the only driver of our Vette I would contemplate nrf's. But since the car is my wife's daily driver I stick with rf's. I can't imagine her on the side of the road trying to put a can of flat repair in the tire and then trying to hook up a portable compressor. In 5" heels no less.

I've been running on Nitto Invo's on my 04 and very happy with the noise level and overall performance.
I run non runflats on both of my vettes and carry a AAA card instead.
I run non runflats and carry an AAA card, can of inflator/sealant, plug kit, jack, wheel chocks and 12 volt compressor in my center cargo area. It's nice to be prepared for our 3000 mile road trip. I also have a jumper battery.

Another vote for the Hankook V12's. Completely transformed my car. Whatever you do, stay away from run-flats! Worst invention in tire history IMHO.

I run the Michelin run flats, and don't need to carry the extra weight. I guess its nice to be prepared. In my opinion your looking for a bigger headache on a 3000 mile trip with out the run flats.
I was between the Hankooks and BF Goodrich G Force, but went G Force.
I liked the specs, but was disappointed when the rears arrived with 2/2013 production date code (the fronts are 1/2014). Don't want to start out with tires over a year old to replace my original run flats with only 12K miles.
One of the big on-liner tire retailers has already picked up rears and ordered a new pair...maybe I should have gone with the Hankooks!

Not necessarily. Drive a runflat for more than thirty miles and it's structural integrity is usually shot. Can never really trust it again. Then you have to try to find a replacement and a place that can mount it. So instead of a 5 dollar can of sealant you have to spend 400 bucks on a new tire. Talk about a headache. Runflats are not the answer. The cost is not worth it. Not to mention the horrible ride.
The extra weight is only a few pounds. Not a big deal.

1 year isn't uncommon at all. most tires are produced overseas, then shipped here, then distributed making your 1/14 date extremely quick
6mo old is the average for a high volume dealer like tire rack or discount
my local discount is really good about checking dates when i buy and making sure they are under 1yr old, always buy local when you can guys, support your community
Sumitomo HTR ZIII is the best cheap tire, Michelin PSS is the best overall tire. IMO there's not much point buying anything other than one of those two unless you're buying track/autox tires.
I have Kumho Ecsta SPT tires on my car. They are NON RF. I'm happy with them but me being me, will probably try something different when the time comes.
