If you are in fact hearing very low audio from the driver's side, you can rule out connections.....You either lost a channel on the head unit or the bose amp.

Okay thanks for the advice. What is the best way of going about testing/repairing the issue?

No real easy way...If you were electrically inclined, you could reverse a left and a right wire out of the radio. If sound moves, then amp is the issue, if not it's the head unit. IMO the radio would be more likely. Maybe a pm to Dennis at Double D would prove more informative.

I would agree, if it was an amp issue you would loose one speaker not both front and rear of one side since they are individually amplified (at least my C4 was which was the last time I dug a stereo out of a Vet).

Yeah the C5s are individually powered. Have a buddy with a c5? Plug his radio in. It's easy to remove.

So I found something else weird, I only have this problem when I play a cd. When the fm radio is on the speakers are fine. What the heck?!

Problem is definitely the radio in that case....Used on Ebay or upgrade the head unit.

Is the cd playing in the head unit or in a rear changer?

Cd in the head unit. Is this something I can fix myself? Only bc this unit I have the aux input installed so I'd like to salvage it if possible. Or start from scratch with another I suppose. Not sure if I'd go aftermarket don't really want to cut into the dash.

Repairing it yourself is probably not a reality. An aftermarket HU plus the ROM adaptor will give you modern conveniences like Bluetooth, MP3 capability and a USB and external inputs...For in the $200 range you could do the upgrade with minimal work...I did this and bought Double D speaker upgrade kit and called it a day....Will sound much better than stock without running an amp/sub and all the additional wiring.....Dennis actually can prewire the setup so all you need to splice and run is 1 wire. AND no cutting into the dash with a single din.
