No burn for a C7 here. The more I see, the more awkward it looks. I like several of the individual components, but they just look all glued together - like it was designed by five committees.
Aside from that, if I were wealthy, I would buy one - why not? But to put a car that expensive on these new 3rd world streets with 80% offroad vehicles whizzing by and jumping curbs while on their cellphones is insane!
I'm on Corvette # 3.......C5 6 spd which I love.....best Vette yet. After seeing all of the pics of the new C7 in the Corvette mags I sorta liked what I saw. I finally went to see a new white C7 convertible up close and personal at a Myrtle Beach dealership and it was absolutely stunning. If you haven't seen one in person....go see it. You haters may change your mind.
My hand was forced when I totaled my C5 in December. After six months on order, my Torch Red Z51 Coupe is being built next week. I should have it about 2 weeks after that.

Nope , Saw one for the first time last week coming toward me and it was just what I expected to see in person. At first glance it looks like an old Viper or a C6 from the front , then as you look at it in the rear view mirror as it passes it looks hideous. ( laughable ) What were they thinking ?

I agree. I actually was very disciplined leading up to the C7 reveal in Detroit last year (2013). I purposely didn't read any C7 articles or look at any pictures online of the car. The first glimpse I saw of the car was in the flesh, and I loved it from the first time I saw it. I'm not sure why so many are resistant to change (C7 tail lights and other edgy styling cues). The C5 is gorgeous, and the C7 is gorgeous as well. The design team had to make a polarizing chage to the car. Afterall, the C6 was VERY similar to the C5. Why would you want the C7 to again copy this exact design to a T? A fitting tradition for the best sports car every built is to push the limits of technology AND style. I will have a C7 one day to replace my C5.
I do like the C7 Z06 I don't like the vert and auto option for the Z06 but that's just me. Im not to big on the base C7 I rather have my C5Z or a C6Z or C6ZR1 for the price of a new C7

Build Pic.
I'm sorry. I hadn't heard about the Gents Cruiser. That is a terrible shame. Sorry man.
I was skeptical on C7 at first like most people but I have accepted it now and have very few criticisms... not to mention a lot of likes! I agree with MSG though, I wouldn't trade my car for it because I have built my car but I certainly would love to own one.
I ordered a Porsche 911 instead of a C7 because I have three permanent problems with my C5 due to poor components. It seems GM focuses on getting the 0-60 times down while the cars windows and door locks don't work and the seats rock! If GM focused on quality, I would have bought a C7 and saved myself $45k!
As time goes on they'll add bells and whistles but won't support parts for long. On some cars maybe I can see that, but a car like Corvette, and the way people use them for leisure driving and car shows etc, they last longer than a typical car may, especially since they don't see as many miles annually.
This trend disturbs me. Already we can't get some parts for the C5.
As my buddy says, even when talking about the c4-C5, they are throw away cars. So if you don't plan on having it for a long time and can afford it, why not buy one? But the poor sap who buys it used may be in for a rude awakening as I was not being able to get a pre 01 EBCM.
this is more of a GM thing and we allow them to do it by buying their products
other companies, like honda, have a company theme that's basically this " they will offer support on cars that are still popular" that means all the 90s econoboxes....you can buy most anything for at the dealer. short blocks, interior trim, a bumper. they have 99% of it
they have however phased out most all the 80s cars except for select items
for some reason GM is not, again, taking the customer serious and trying to build a brand that builds loyalty and support. they just want to move as many high priced objects each year as possible. their behavior leads me to believe they expect everyone to buy a new car every 5 years or less and used cars should be crushed and recycled
current events like trying to save pennies that now winds up costing them countless millions is testament to their mentality
It took a while but it grew on me............BIG TIME. Would I like one? HELL YEAH...But, as much as it's a bitch to keep clean I'd have to go with all Black. That huge rear black panel in the rear just doesn't look right to me on a light colored car. With Black it blends in and looks great.
Oh and I got vanity plates already picked out:
D VADER or DARTH V
Just a guess, probably because C5 owners are discussing among their peers various observations of the new C7.
I agree, well said.
In the C5 section of the forum, more often than not, there are enough 'adult's ' to discuss issues of interest to Corvette lovers, even beyond the specific scope of C5...

Then let's change this particular section to "C5 General and anything else you want to discuss" forum. Or better, combine them all to "Corvette forum". We don't need C1 and C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, C7 forums. Why can't we all just get along? If I want to read about C7's I go to the C7 forum.

To a degree keep it in the proper forum but I think there is some latitude. People establish friends within a given forum and want to discuss topics with those people. I respect that.
Bottom line, if you see that a topic is not to your liking, it is no inconvenience at all to move on. It takes longer to comment that it is in the wrong forum than it does to move on.
