Since a lot of people on C5 seem to like to discuss the C7, I thought you might like to see the new "Trans Am" parked beside me at a car show this weekend.
I only took the one picture. Except for the wheels, and what you can see in the picture, it looked pretty much like a Camaro. Shaker hood with eagle, tail lights, spoiler, badging like Trans Am.
This Camaro conversion has been out for several years. They also did a GTO Throwback and another throwback car all off the Camaro but I forget what the third was.
I didn't know such a 'kit' existed until now. Just did a Google search. Seems like a total waste of money because in the end it's just a devalued Camaro.
Actually I think they look much better than the Camaro, but I always preferred the Firebird to the Camaro. Takes me back to the days of driving the 1977 Formula.
Trans Am Depot is in my neck of the woods. Their works is high quality and what the Trans Am would have been had they brought it back.
IMO GM should start a specialty division of low production cool cars. Some throwbacks like this one others that are just cool. Keep production low enough to not have to deal with the EPA, crash testing, etc.
Every time I see a trans am...I want to put on my OP drawstring pants, fishnet tank...crack open an ice cold Keystone and eat a fist full of slimjim's. I don't know why.
