While only a member for less than a year, the forum has saved me hundreds of dollars. Need some more help.
Heres's the deal. I have factory rotors, grey corvette calipers and wagon wheels on my arctic white 97. I only have 1500 miles on the rotors, brakes, etc and the rotors are rusted. Weekend driver.
I want the wheels to pop! I like the chrome C6 Z06 wheels with black calipers.
Any suggestions for getting all the pieces at one place as a package deal? Without breaking the bank? Anybody do it? Anybody get special pricing as a package? I'm not into the caliper and rotor covers. I certainly don't want to change the wheels and then worry about the rotors rusting, it would defeat the whole purpose.
Can I trade in anything? Would like to pull the trigger soon. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I think your best bet if you want to go the cheap route is to to definitely paint your calipers(about $30 for the kit) and just clean your rotors since they're pretty new. you might get lucky finding a good used set of chrome z06 repros check the parts section here and ls1tech.com and craigslist and eBay. You also might be able to get $100-150 for your wagon wheels...good luck.

Just drive your car awhile (a few miles) and the rotors will shine right up from the friction of the pads. You can also buy caps that fit over the center section of the rotors that covers the area that isn't in contact with the brake pads. High temperature paint for caliper painting is available at most auto part stores.
You could also get new rotors that are coated from brakemotive (do a search here) that look great and function very well. I believe rotors, and pads were around $200 for four wheels when I did mine a year ago.
Polished 5-spoke wheels- $200 on Craigslist
Paint & Prep materials- $30 at Autozone
New Drilled/Slotted rotors & pads- under $190 from Brakemotive
Sold old painted 5-spoke wheels- sold for $200 on Corvette Forum
$200 + $30 + ~$190 - $200 = $220 total for new wheels, rotors, and painted calipers.
All rotors are cast iron, because of the heat dissipation properties. You can buy 50 dollar rotors or 1500 dollar rotors and the fire path ( where the pads meet the rotor ), will always get rusty if exposed to moisture.
So if your present rotors are working without any warp, then you need to know that new rotors will rust also. No matter what !

What kind of rotors are in your car in the picture? Sure look good.
