Default my search - c5 im thinking of buying. pics inside.

Looked at a 1998 coupe today w 100k that had quite a bit of upgrades. Its a 6 speed, black, decent shape. Some issues with the paint nothing too major. Its been made to be like a z06. Has a nice intake, headers, intake, etc. Msd ignition sticker, didn't actually see the unit. Guy wants $12.5k. Which seems reasonable to me. He claimed over 400hp which I don't doubt it just didn't feel like that to me when I drove it. Ran well but I thought it would be quicker. I didn't go too crazy on it. New clutch, good tire...Thoughts??

There's a 2000 frc that I have my eye on as well same mileage, wants $15k. Claims it has a rebuilt motor.

Find out how he used the 400 HP.
If he raced it often, I'd pass.
If he did like most, he built it and only used the power occasionally.
Run the codes, etc. Check the sticky up top about buying C-5s and then decide, the price is Ok.
Make sure it has no active handling, traction control problems too. The EBCM for the early C-5 are very expensive.

Rebuilt motor, I say leave it alone, bet the trans is next to go. I would not touch any C5 earlier than 2001 so you could still get some of the electronic parts if needed.
