Hi all, been having a few electrical problems and want to clean the grounds and connectors under the hood. Since these are grounds I dont believe I have to disconnect the battery. Can someone back me up on this so I feel a little safer going forward, thanks.
I'm sure someone will say that to be safe you should, but with the switch off, removing and cleaning a ground should not be a problem.
I bought my C5 two months ago and it was popping up all sorts of random codes that would not come back after a reset. I went through the grounds and cleaned up the two ground connectors under the hood and the codes have gone away. I hope you get the same results.
Should you? Yes. Did I? No. If you decide not to, Do so at your own discretion
I recently cleaned all of my grounds, and on the locations that use the ground straps that multiple wires go into, I chopped them off, stripped the wires and soldered them into a single lug

That's a great idea do you have pictures you could post?

I can get some for you as soon as I can. I should mention on the passengers side I used 2 lugs as the combined gauge of the wire was too big for the lugs I bought, I think it was something like 8-10 total wires. The drivers side only had 4 or 5. You can buy a lug big enough for all of them if you want
