Has anyone had success with the sender replacement without removing the intake? I found a video but looks risky....

Did you read the whole back and forth? I think the guy proved he did it without removing the intake.

I did it myself. Biggest pain was getting the connector off. But it was still much faster than removing the manifold. I wish I had smaller hands.

I couldn't do it on a 2001 following the video. There was an extra pipe or something running across the opening that I couldn't get around that wasn't shown in the video.

I did my '02 that way but if I had to do it again, I would remove the intake....It was a pain in my fat hands!

I just did mine 2 weeks ago using the video as a guide. I used hemostats and a piece of rubber hose to guide the new sensor in. The key is getting the proper socket. I got mine from advance auto parts it is very thin and has two sizes 1 1/16 and 1 inch and its 3/8 drive, it gives you more room than 1/2 inch drive . I got the old one out and the new one in using the same socket....bend a coat hange to pull the connector. I took me 1/2 hour.....

Removing the intake manifold only takes about 10-15 minutes, very easy. If you need help feel free to PM me

And if you do remove the intake install a oil señor reelection kit while you have it off, and that will make it a 5 minute jib next time the sensor goes bad. Sensor are known to go bad quite often.

Why not remove the intake? Clean everything up, new gaskets and seals. Do the relocation kit then if you want. Its an easy job.

Thats how I would do it if I had the plastic intake manifold. With a supercharger, its a PITA to lift off. Might be worth trying this with a SC. Or as some has done, take the cowl cover off, hole saw a hole to take it out, and then the cowl cover will cover up the hole.

The secret is to get your wife or some young girl with small hands. They can get right in. Once removed and restarted it is easy.

I did my 2002 vert but decided to drill a hole above the sender in the firewall cover below the wipers. No regrets and would do it again when my current C5 fails. There are videos showing how this is done. I'm not fond of removing manifolds, old hoses and plastic connectors.
