Console Flood Lamp?
From my 1998 owner's manual...........
"There is also an interior console flood lamp located
underneath the rearview mirror which comes on with the
headlamps or parking lamps."
I have looked and cannot locate the "console flood lamp". Was it just an option? Checked my "Black Book" and don't see anything about it.

dumb question and dont mean to thread jack but has anyone ever replaced it with an led? just curious if it could be done

I haven't tried and I don't know why you would want to. It's only visible at night and if you make it brighter, it will be distracting. You can't turn it off unless you also add a switch. You've got the map lights if you want a bright light shining on your console at night. Are you thinking of some other color of "mood" light?

That said, I'm not sure I'd want it any brighter than it is now anyway...it may be useless, but at least it's not annoying.
If you want an LED there, the good news is, it is an LED already.
If you want it brighter or a different color, the bad news is, it's hardwired into the mirror, not socketed, and there's no procedure in the FSM to replace it.
