Did a search and didn't see much on this particular option. I've got a '99 automatic coupe that's all stock, except for a Ti muffler setup. Would long tube headers of a quality brand and a CATTED X pipe give some power using the Ti exhaust, and how would the sound be? Also, I came from 2005- and up Mustangs that were so sensitive to mods that pistons have been known to burn with nothing more than a CAI if a tune wasn't installed at the same time. Can this Corvette deal with the catted x and long tubes for a while until I can build up the funds for a tuner or custom tune? All opinions are appreciated.

are you lookig for sound or more power? a high performance rear will give you a seat of the pants wow factor 3:42 ratio in an A4. that Long tubes wont get you. Of course the sound will be dramatically different and you will get an increase in power but you will need a tune. the difference between the tubes and tune and the rear is the tubes and tune will cost you twice that of the rear. You can change the exhaust cat backs to something like Corsa Extremes. which will not do anything for performance over the Z06 exhaust, but will sound great.

If I go with the gear change, I will still have to have a tuner to fix the speedometer, true? Or can a GM dealer recalibrate it with their software? As far as the exhaust goes, I was really looking for better sound. The Ti's aren't bad at all, but Corvettes seem so QUIET. Don't want an all out droner and screamer like Loud Mouths, just something more than the setup I have now, without breaking the bank. I'm just considering options, and I'm not familiar with how compatible these cars are with mods like that and stock tunes.
