I am considering having the door windows and the back glass on my Vette tinted. My Vette is Black and I think tinted windows would make the "Bob-Mobile" look muck better.

Bought my C5 in in NC but the car was licensed in SC. Had to have all of the tinting changed as the laws are different. SC allows 35% while NC only allows 20%. Not expensive to change but a major PITA in order to pass the state inspection...

Sc allows 27%. I only know because I move from there to GA which only allows 32%. And it doesn't matter in ga were your car is registered. Craziest thing I heard. You visit ga with 27% you can get ticketed. It's like me getting a ticket for no front license plate when I visit in a state that requires one.

California is the same way (will occasionally ticket out-of-state cars for tint that is legal in their state). It is bad legislation meant to gain revenue, pure and simple, since they know most people aren't going to come back to Cali just to fight the ticket.

I agree. GA had it to only apply to in state vehicles but someone fought it to the state Supreme Court and one base on discrimination.
I don't go by the tint laws. It's funny to me that different states have different tint requirements. CA's law enforcement officers ticket out of state cars for tint all the time. Also, to my knowledge, they don't carry tint meters in CA because any % tint is illegal on the front windows (I've been pulled over at least 4 times for front tint on my various cars)... But on the flip side, you could spray paint the rear windows black and it's completely legal in CA! I recently moved to WA and the first cop that looked at our tinted Lexus pulled us over and busted out the tint meter. BS in my opinion.
I would also take into account your interior. Full black interiors make the tint appear darker. I like 20% all around on C5's. I have 20% up front and 5% in the rear on my black Z and love the look. The main problem is 5% tint on the rear glass makes it a little difficult to reverse at night. I usually roll down the windows just to make sure I won't reverse into anything.

To expensive here if pulled. They do carry meters but can only read windows that can be rolled down. 275 first offense. Same here 35% on all windows on cars but on trucks and suv's they can be whatever you like except front two. Nonsense!!

I installed LEDs in the reverse lights for that reason
And yes, as I said earlier, CA is ridiculous about that stuff
They haven't for a long time neither does ga that is what cops are for. Tint to dark ticket. Defective equipment ticket. Inspections are stupid and a waste of taxpayer money!!
It cracks me up how a cop in a squad car with windows so dark you can't see through them gives you a ticket.
Same reason they can talk and text while driving . And speed past you on the road. Me since GA law says a police car can not exceed the speed limit without lights I follow them.
That's entirely different. Law enforcement is specially trained to operate equipment while driving (and we're not talking about running errands, we're talking DRIVING), up to and including communicating with other law enforcement via service radios and cell phones. Texting is unacceptable while driving, but talking on the phone is no different than talking on the service radio, and both are often required to do the job.
That having been said, I think the law should be 30% front in every state, marked LE vehicles included. This game of ticketing out-of-state vehicles for tint is baloney.
