I would say it's fair is I recently got two quotes for automatic transmission service. The Chevrolet dealer was $239.00 and an independent Corvette preferred auto care service was $201.17.

Here's what my '03 owner's manual states on this:
50,000 Miles (83 000 km)
Change automatic transmission fluid and filter if the
vehicle is mainly driven under one or more of these
conditions:
- In heavy city traffic where the outside
temperature regularly reaches 90°F (32°C) or
higher.
- In hilly or mountainous terrain.
- Uses such as high performance operation.
If you do not use your vehicle under any of these
conditions, change the fluid and filter at
100,000 miles (166 000 km). Manual
transmission fluid doesn’t require change.
That said, I bought my '03 with only 8500 miles on it, but right after I got it I went ahead and changed all the fluids just for my peace of mind.
