I bought a Bassani Express X pipe and tried to put it on the weekend when i tried to bolt it to the manifold they wouldn't line up. is there a different exhaust set up between the years or the same from 97-04? thank you also his add stairs it bolts to cats but the cats are welded and the manifold have bolts
I just put a B&B x-pipe on my car over the weekend. The install requires you to cut the exhaust pipe behind the cats and clamp the x-pipe on from there. It's also identical to the Corsa x.

Not sure if you have the same x-pipe I had on my '00, but it was a Bassani and you had to cut the exhaust right behind the cats and then the x-pipe bolted to the front of the catbacks. Worked very well.

It sounds like you're trying to install it backwards. The flanged end bolts up to the catbacks, not the exhaust manifolds. As mentioned you need to cut your pipes after the cats, and weld the x-pipe in. And yes, there is a difference in exhaust manifolds (not that this is your issue). I believe that '87-'99 are the same, '00 is different, and '01-'04 are the same. I might be off a little on this...
BTW, an x-pipe is not a replacement for cats. It's there to smooth out the exhaust flow, which can reduce/eliminate "motorboating" and drone. If you proceed with this install, you'd be better off replacing your cats with free-flow units while you're at it.

there is no way to install it backwards its self explanatory how the pipes fit
When I installed my X-pipe (West Coast Corvettes) I had to cut after the cats and clamp on. But the cuts were not parallel - one was offset an inch or so from the other. The instructions gave very specific measurements for marking and cutting. Not sure if other x-pipes are similarly offset but make sure yours line up before doing any cutting.

Unless I read your post wrong, it sounded like you were trying to bolt the x-pipe to the exhaust manifolds. Excuse me for pointing out the obvious to the oblivious. Good luck with your installation.

I'm confused where you thought i would put the end that goes toward the manifold the other way i mean one end has a much wider gap then the other so how does that make me oblivious

if someone can't figure out which end goes which way they probably should take it somewhere
Precisely!
Well, it goes like this:
You said you tried to bolt the x-pipe to the manifold. One end of the x-pipe has flanges and so does the exhaust manifolds. And, they're a lot closer to matching up than the other way around. On top of that, you seemed to think that an x-pipe is supposed to replace the cats. 1+1+1=3.
So, negating all of what you've said so far, and knowing which way the x-pipe actually goes (which the instructions clearly cover), where lies your problem?
Perhaps you're not oblivious, but you are either confused or confusing. Certainly the latter, at least.
the bassani Xpipe bolts the the manifolds and replaces the cats.. they have 2 different ones.. What year is your car? 97-99 C5 Corvette Offroad Power X Crossover (Part C5992)
00-04 C5 Corvette Offroad Power X Crossover (Part # C5012)
Most corvette XPipes are post cat on the mid pipe, this one the OP posted is a Offroad setup that eliminates the cats.. the cars are not going to restrict you unless you are pretty heavily modified.. I would buy a universal X and replace the H in the stock pipe or buy one that fits post cats before the muffler pipes.
Bassani Xpipe Offroad pictured in the PDF clearly connects to the manifolds and replaces the cats.. http://www.bassani.com/downloads/pdf...%20Install.pdf
