Default A little venting....

I am not sure how many of you have had this experiance, it happened yesterday and I was mad as _ _ _ _.

While driving home yesterday with the top out and windows down, I wasn't bothering a soul. Not fast, not slow, just flowing with traffic. A DB in a Turbo Diesel F250 pulls up next to me while I was sitting at a traffic light and proceeds to pull up just far enough to ensure that his exhaust was blowing on me. I inch up, he does the same, to the point where is all over the cars bumper in front of him. The light turns greean and GIANT DB floors his POS and showers me with his exhaust. I slow down, he slows down. Until we reach the next light where his imbread son rolls down the passenger side window, looks right at me ang laughs. The same dance occurred again. I try to pull up he mirrors me to ensure that I was getting the full brunt of his exhaust. Light turns green , he smashed the accelerator and agian I get showered in exhaust. This time I accelerate enough to get ahead of the GIANT DB with the hope that he goes away. No such luck, I see him swearving around traffic enough to pull up next to me and we get stuck at another light, this time in the front row. He is gassing his POS and I am just ignoring him. The light turns green and he starts the same BS again, I launched and blew by him in third gear putting a good ten car lengths between us. I let off the gas ( wont bother mentioning how fast I was going ) and GIANT DB goes blowing by me, billowing black smoke, at about 110 mph.
I let him go and he just kept on getting it. About 1/2 mile around the corner I drive by GIANT DB in his POS truck pulled over to the side of the road with one of MD's finest pulling in behind him. I blew my horn in two short burts and gave him a proper salute as I went by him doing the posted speed limit...

What do you guys do, when and if this happens?

i would just turn off and go the other way or block him in with traffic by getting in front of him and slowing down to where he cant move because of the traffic next to him or just call the police.

I've never encounted one so initimately as you experienced, however I see these type of lifted, smoking exhaust trucks all over Florida. Usually, I just try to ignore them as their idea of automotive fun is a lot different then my idea of automotive fun, but I'm sure the DB you encountered enjoys picking on Corvettes and other convertible sportscars on a regular basis in order to help build up his lack of self-confidence and bruised ego. Glad to see he got his just reward.

Sadly, I have a really short temper for this type of thing. One day I just know I'm going to end up in jail for putting a beating on someone at the side of the road for stuff like this. I have encountered this type of behavior from people in SUV's and Trucks all too often. Even in my Focus. They seem to think they own the road because they are driving a 4,000-6,000 pound behemoth.

I have been in 3 accidents in 28 years of driving. All three were the other driver's fault. I was rear ended by a tow truck driver in my '57 Fairlane. and two failure to yields when turning left. Both SUV's. Both on the phone at the time. Both not paying attention. One tried to say it was my fault, but he was found guilty. The other pled guilty up front and admitted to being on his phone and not paying attention.

My wife's brand new Nissan was backed into by an idiot in a Honda Pilot, her car was parked, but she tried to blame it on my wife. There were witnesses for that one. I have no love for people who buy these huge vehicles, but have no clue how to drive them or park them. --- > we're still fighting this one. We had to obtain a lawyer because it happened on private property and the Ins. Co didn't want to bother with it, but we have depositions from witnesses who saw what happened. It happened at our Daycare. and the Owner of the Daycare told them woman she was not welcome back after the screaming fit she caused.

and the thing that upsets me so bad is that it isn't the trucks fault, its the idiot behind the wheel that wants to look cool

Sadly; me too
I have more than once (stupidly) got out of my car (at a red light, or got them to pull over) and went up to the driver and sternly "addressed my concerns", which usually fixed the problem
I'm surprised I haven't been shot, but I just have no patience for people that need a good attitude adjustment.
Don't recommend it, just telling people what NOT to do. Best to just turn off or drop back in traffic.

That sucks but you couldnt shake a f250 in traffic to where he doesn't pull up to you a few times? I can see it happening once at a light but multiple times? Time to work on your driving skills my man

I would have pulled over and notified the LEO of the DBs previous actions. Pretty much a case of battery. You were attacked repeatedly with harmful chemicals.

Don't you love how the insurance companies try not to get involved?!

A friend of mine was involve in an accident that occurred in a supermarket parking lot. Much to his surprise, the stop signs, yield signs, one-way aisles, etc. are nothing more than suggestions as he was told by the police that since this is private property, the rules of the public roads/highways don't apply. So basically, in the end it was a he said/she said situation where he had to submit a claim to his insurance agent.

Yeah, you were lucky HE got the ticket, not you.

Not to be a DB, but you risked a ticket, your safety, and the safety of others by trying outrun this dick.

I know it's easy to armchair quarterback here, but pulling off into a convenience store or finding another route would have been more productive AND you would not have given him the satisfaction of the show you gave him.

Glad he got stopped, that's karma.

Interesting that you noted this DB was driving an F-250...

I have long held the belief, and shared this belief with many others through the years, that Ford pickup drivers (usually F-150's, but also the heavy duty pickups as well) make up the biggest percentage of a**hats on the road - by a LARGE margin.

Most people I have shared this with usually get back to me within months, if not weeks, to tell me "Holy crap, you are right."

I am beginning to think that it is a REQUIREMENT, when purchasing a Ford pickup, that you prove yourself to possess a sufficient degree of a**hattery in order to be allowed to purchase/drive one.

Now, to be sure, there are DB's driving every make and model out there, including (sadly) Corvettes. And it is also true that not EVERY Ford pickup driver is a DB. BUT...on a percentage basis, Ford pickup drivers are DB's far more than any other. It isn't even close...

Pay attention of over the next month to every a**hat you see in traffic. I can just about guarantee that Ford pickups will top your list...

Lots of DB's around here, and it seems like their vehicle of choice tends to be jacked up diesel pickups with drainpipe sized exhaust. I'll just turn off or slow down a bit. Not worth getting into a confrontation with inbred dimwits.
