The only thing you might want to prepare for is idiots dinging it or hitting you...
^ this. DFW is filled with them and people driving junk cars that really don't care if they do.

x2 plus it's like a skating rink around here when ice hits. Not to mention people think they can safely drive fast and will be fine driving in their trucks and SUVs. F that nonsense.
Mine is one step up from "daily driver": it's my "only car".
Every couple of months I borrow a truck or SUV for a large Home Depot run, but other than that the C5 does everything I ask of it...whole lot better in that regard than some other cars I've owned.
Here in Florida it's my DD for sure when it's not my wifes DD.. Nothing better then driving home from work with the top down. Way better gas mileage then our SUV.

Bah, life is short. The tires and seats are a small price to pay for the pleasure of daily driving a Vette.
I've always believed that these cars were made to be driven not locked up.

When I daily drove my '03 Cobra, people would ask "Why are you driving that? Park it! It's going to be worth money!" With the Corvette, I'm getting similar responses.
I'm sorry, but I don't buy my car to garage, keep maintained and in pristine condition, pay a bunch of money for it, never have any fun in it, and then pass it on to someone for less money 5 years down the road who will then have a like-new car to drive and enjoy thanks to me for a much lower price.
I prefer to use my cars for the reason they were built - driving enjoyment.
I specifically bought mine to be a DD. I have other cars for hauling the family around so I figured why not make the drive to work more enjoyable for me?
I did the same and love it.
The only downside I've had is coming across EVERY electrical gremlin in the first year of ownership... oh well, still worth it, and I got them all out of the way early... lol
I DD my 02 Z06 but I only have a 8 mile round trip. Im also lowered all the way down on zip bolts, with 18/19's and bilstein shocks, airaid CAI, catback, MGW shifter, I love to drive it, wish my drive was a tad longer lol

Absolutely agree. I'm pretty OCD about these cars. I maintain them and keep them clean, but never lose sight of the fact that these cars were made to be driven and enjoyed. Once I lose site of that, things get to obsessive and the fun factor goes down the toilet.
My only gripe about using my C5 as a DD, which I do probably drive it to work probably 6+ days a month anyway, is that it was maintained exceptionally before I got it and if I daily it constantly it's going to show it's age rather soon with the plastics and weather stripping, etc that aren't nearly as fun to replace as things like the cam and heads and fenders and wheels that I have planned this year.
I guess it depends on where you live. Since we live on the West coast it's not a problem. My wife drives her '03 coupe nearly every day and loves it. So far pretty much trouble free.
C5's are great dd. The back end is big enough to carry a lot of stuff. I once crammed and 8 foot 2X4 in there and shut the lid. Most people drive around by themselves all day. Why not make these trips enjoyable. Driving a C5 is the most fun you can have and still keep your clothes on. The downside is that they are low to the ground which may get old if you have to get in and out a lot. I consider getting in and out part of my agility program. I seems to working so far.
completely agree i use mine for a dd and it makes going everywere enjoyable. definitely dont mind getting in and out of the car. small price to pay for the joy. also very reliable car and like everyone has said i actually get pretty good to the tank even with letting it clear its throat ALOT.

To each their own, but after it sat in the garage a year I decided I wanted to enjoy it. Living in Florida I can drive it every day and I just returned from a 2400 mile round trip to Bloomington Gold. I have 93,600 miles on my Z06 and also consider getting in and out of it as part of my exercise and agility program. They are such fun cars to drive. No engine or car issues and it's been very reliable. Life is too short to drive a boring car!
