I have rhino ramps and put 2x12s in front of them that I drive up onto first. No issues, works well, cheap.

How long are the 2x12's that you use?
I've been needing ramps but can't bring myself to pay the ridiculous price being asked for Race ramps.
Thanks.

2 feet. I went to Lowes, had a 2x12x8' cut down into 4 equal pieces. This way I have 1 for each wheel, if needed.

2x12's weigh over 4 pounds per lineal foot. If you make something close to the size of the 8" high RR-56-2 Race Ramps from a stack of 2x12's, they will weigh 50 back breaking pounds EACH. It won't take long before you get tired of lugging the ramps around your garage.
You can get a set of RR-56-2 ramps for $185.20 (after discounts and the Q3-2014 $20 factory rebate). The resale value of Race Ramps is very good making the TOC (total cost of ownership) very reasonable. You can easily sell the ramps for $120 when you no longer need them. In contrast, the wooden ramps are unlikely to have any resale value.

I applauded the ingenuity of the wooden home made ramps. They will do the job. As a designer, I can see the effort and workmanship in this simple design. We always look to a design for its form fit and function.
IN this case, ( Something to raise your car ) can be accomplished by many option.
Cost may or may not be a factor.
Storage, may or may not be a factor.
Weight of this wooden design is a negative compared to simpler lighter options. 100# compared to 10#

Yes if your car is lowered
You can usually find two pieces in the bargain bin at Lowes or Home Depot, for a couple of dollars.

I also went with wood. I did not attach the pieces so they could be moved easily, I just stack them up when I need them, and storage is more compact.
It's just 2x12 with the needed free cuts done at the store. I think the cost was 18 bucks for the board.
