Default Valve spring questions

I have a 2002 Z06 with less than 20,000 miles on it, I have no idea if the valve springs have been replaced, so I would assume that they have not. I plan on keeping the motor stock, does anyone have any suggestions what brand of springs that replace the stock ones with? Any input would be greatly appreciated .

100's of posts on this- suggest using the search function.

I suggest going with either the PAC 1218's or the GM replacements. I replaced the springs on my 02 Z06 at around 32K miles with the PAC 1218's, as well as the seals and keeper. Plan to replace the spark plugs and wires as well. The spark plug wires can be a PITA to get off without tearing them up- so best to have a new set of GM red wires handy.

2002 Z06 LS6:
I replaced mine with stock GM yellow springs at 24,000 miles in 2009. I track my car a few times a year and has 40,000 miles on it now. I did not see an advantage to aftermarket springs. If I remember correctly, the valve springs are one of the few engine components that Katech did not replace on the C5R race motors.

I think the current replacement springs are blue and are common to the newer LS series engines.

new gm springs are 65 dollars, if you're staying stock you're basically lighting money on fire paying for springs that can handle more lift

you will also likely want to get new GM valve seals which are 14 for all 16. it's not so much for right now as it is a few years from now. hard valve seals are one of the main causes of oil burning and i'd take a guess that this car will be on the road when it's 20yrs old. spend the 40 bucks, it takes a few seconds to replace each with the spring off, they literally slide right off and back on

also, the gm red wires are popular yes, but, if you want to spend less and get an oem look wire that fits like oem the denso 671-8056 is what you want. denso was the OE supplier of our plugs

part numbers for the springs and seals

12499224 set of 16 GM valve springs
12482063 set of 8 intake valve seals
12482062 set of 8 exhaust valve seals
