Default Door Panel Access Plug Cover

I just recently purchased a 2003 convertible with only 20k miles, but the access plug on the drivers door has fallen out twice. Anyone else have this problem? I have installed a new one, but it came out after a couple of days.

I have a 63 split window and I know a lot about the issues with those, but I am new to the C5 world - Any suggestion?

I am also ordering a steering column lockout(?) protector - Any thing else I should know? Brand new battery, by the way.

Use some double sided sticky tape. I had the old ones fall out and after replacing with new ones same thing happened a year later. I used tape and have had no issues since.

Sounds like you got the two main ones (battery & LMC5/CLB) right off the bat!
Here is some useful info

Congrats on your C5! Pics of the '03 and '63?

Use a little bit of adhesive on them.

I'm not sure an '03 convertible has a steering column lock. My '02 coupe does not. I think those were terminated in 2000 or before.

That should work - just use some very thin double sided tape so the plug doesn't stick out away from the door panel.

That's true for autos ... 6 spd still has them.

There are three tabs on the access piece. They are very fragile and will snap off very easily. the side with two tabs goes towards the bottom,.

Place the piece with the bottom side in place, then gently push in the top side. If the any of these tabs get broken, the tape will suffice.

Might help to know which "access plug" we're talking about, because the same fix won't work for all of them. Is it the plastic widget under the door handle, the rubber plugs along the bottom edge of the door frame, or the red plastic reflector?

It is the cheap plastic plug that is located behind the door handle - I got a couple of spares form the dealer today - but the price for mine were $5.39 each - Thanks for the help guys - The sticky tape hopefully will hold it in place. Love the car!
