I've found my C5 to feel considerably more roomy than the C7.
I've heard that from several people, also that the C5 is roomier than the C6.
My question is, where did the space go? It's not like they shortened the wheelbase...did they move the engine back?

Not sure man...I really haven't read much about the design of the C7...only sat in a couple over the last few months.
I actually feel pretty similar room in a c6 (to my C5) personally.

Changes C5 to C6 - Overall length reduced from 179.7 to 174.6. Width reduced from 73.6 to 72.6. Height increased from 47.7 to 49.1.

I think a lot of it has to do with the seats and the bolsters making you feel more secure in the cockpit. Headroom, to me, seems the same. The dash and passenger grab handles seems to take up some space but it's a welcome change.
having sat in a Z51 C7 two weekends ago, I thought the cabin was sung and more confined then that of the C5, I am 6'4'' and 180 lbs ..I will say the seats are top notch in the C7

I've sat in a number of C7s and actually drove one for about 5 minutes at Bloomington Gold this year. Just my perception, but my C5 definitely feels more roomy in the passenger compartment, but the C7 still has plenty of room and if comfortable to me.
I've got a couple hundred laps in a Z51 C7 and the interior is a bit smaller or seems so maybe due to the handholds and dash divisions. The stock seats are excellent, not race seats, but a big step up from earlier generations. What's most amazing is the way the car turns in and sticks even with stock runflats and a street alignment. The C7 doesn't need much to be an extremely competent DD/track toy.
Spent a couple days at Bondurant in the new 7's. Interiors were quite nice. The C5's are a little roomier... but the C7 was way more comfortable. Everything was "right there" for the driver. Heel toe was also extremely easy thanks to the throttle and brake being close together.
The C6GS felt a lot stiffer and capable on the track than the Z51 C7. Kinda scratching my noggin over how this Z06 vert is going to handle on the track.

Probably by design the C7 feels more "Snug" and "Cockpit Like" The look of the interior even seems like it is focussed on the driver alone like a cockpit.
No more complaints about Vette seats and interior fit and finish / design.
