I will doing a long road trip in September and with all of the road construction going on am wondering if I should pick up a bra. I have been somewhat hesitant because in the 90's I owned a Porsche that I put a bra on. My experience was that caused some chaffing on the paint at the edge of the fender caused by some minor wind movement.
Would be interested in hearing from those that use them on their Vettes as to how they work and if they have had any issues with them such as paint chaffing or overheating, etc.
Are the basic bras that you can purchase for around $100 any good as I am not about to purchase one of the $500+ bras.
I have been using GM bras for over 12 years and never had a problem with damage to the paint. Just remember to clean the paint prior to install. A good coat of wax doesn't hurt either.
The problem with $100 bras is they do move around and can scratch the paint. I hear the OEM GM bras were decent, but I have no experience with them. I used a stretch bra on my Coupe, it was okay, but being fabric it wasn't 100% protection. I also was caught in the rain with it, the material absored water and ballooned at the fender wells allowing the fabric to rub the tires, leaving it not too pretty any more. Which brings me to the Speed Lingerie bra and mirror covers I have for my Z16. Hands down the finest engineered and made protection available. No movement at all, even at speeds approaching triple digits. I picked it up used for less than half the new price.
I'm sorry I don't remember the name for sure on this bra I think it is wolf. This did work well for me on the highway. You have to know when to take it off. I removed it in the rain and when i reached my destination. I only used it on the highway. Clean under it very well before installing it.
I will second the Speed Lingerie. I have one for my Pewter color car. Fits great and looks good while on the car. It's a bit pricey but worth it.
I will go along with that, Spreed Lingerie is made well, last a long time, durable and doesn't move. I had a GM on my 99, was okay, but put a Speed Lingerie on my 2003 and how nice it is, color matched is a class up from the GM, plus you can add the mirror bras to match as well.
Here's a pic of the GM bra installed on my 2000 coupe. You can see how tight the fit is; even after going through a really, really bad dust storm nothing was able to get underneath the bra.

I am looking for something that I can put on and take off easily. I got a feeling with the new ones that's not the case!

I've used a GM bra on all three of my C5s (current one for nearly five years) and have never had any problems with it damaging the paint and it does a great job protecting the front end. And for about $80-90, it's one heck of a deal.

I have the color matched Speed Lingerie on both my 04 CE & the C6 Z.
The price difference ne between them is a few hundred$$
I do have a black Speed lingerie bra laying around somewhere if any one is interested. The black one I had until I found the LeMans blue for sale from a forum member. The black one is in a box in my garage, hasn't been used in 3 years. Still looks new.
