I guess i could start one of those stupid forum battles, but I will not. People in general do not know or do not want to lean to use the internet search functions. Also search this forum and Ebay. You will find them. This will be my last post, I am not going to argue. . Have fun buying another vette

I've worked for SEARCH companies DUDE. Maybe you should learn how to use the one on this forum, many stories about guys sending their EBCM to places like this only to find out they really CAN'T fix their problem.

Any of the 01-04 cars would be a good choice - lots of upgrades were done to the platform during those years. I have an '03 and have absolutely no complaints about it.
Boy when you ask what is best that gets hairs lifted off the backs of people.
I agree with whoever said find the best one.
But the truth is you should always buy the newest one you can afford, unless there's something you're looking for like I was.
I wanted a Z06, but didn't want to spend that money, so I bought the father of it, a FRC and while my ebcm is acting up, it doesn't matter to me. I don't drive it in the manner it will be used. That's what happens to most of the early ebcm's, they aren't used and go south from non use. Some people have repaired there's by spinning tires and slamming brakes on wet pavement to get the cylinders moving again.
I actually did that once and mine worked for two days and then went south again. And since I don't drive it purposely in wet weather I haven't tried it again.
They say 2000-2007. That's odd when the ebcm from 97 to 2000 was the same. It changed in 01. I'm skeptical
I love my 03 but it hasn't been without problems, including the latest doozie a rebuilt automatic trans at 55,000 miles. Also had to replace 1 check valve, 1 headlight motor, 1 hub, and get the HVAC control unit circuit board re-soldered so the display could be seen. I suggest picking up a copy of the Corvette Black Book. It does a good job of listing all the improvements over the C5 years and they definitely improved in the later years.
I am looking to buy another c-5 as I really miss my "99". I just don't like the looks of the c-7 which I thought about buying now that I can afford one. My local Chevy dealer called me last week to come down and look at 3 new Corvettes that came in. No way I'm going to spend $60,000 on a car that I don't like the looks of. I've owned 3 c-5's in the past [2 97's and 1 "99"]. All great cars but the danger of the ebcm going bad always worried me as they are not repairable and hard to find used. My question is which year c-5 is the most reliable and trouble free as far as the common ailments that these cars have?

I have an awesome 2000 Coupe with an AT and I could not be happier. I have literally had zero problems with it. I keep up with all of my preventative maintenance and it still runs and looks like new.
I bought a 98 Coupe a few months back, 2 owner car with 140k for 8K, I couldn't be happier, I've done a few things like tires, TI exhaust, CAI, Oil pressure sender, Plugs. It looks and runs like new and I couldn't care less about the EBCM going bad, Best bang for the buck I've found
On my second '99 and they have been the greatest cars I have ever owned!!!!! Totally problem-free and a blast to drive every single time I turn the key!!!!! I am not worried about the EBCM scare or any of the other things the WHINERS talk about. My '55 Chevy didn't have ABS, my '69 Charger didn't have ABS, I think I'll be just fine should my EBCM decide to go out.
My '99's have been the best cars I have ever owned!!!!!
I think the 01 - 02 are some of the better ones. I heard the 03 - 04 can have a fuel leak problem due to some tube that runs over the gas tank or something! Whoa - I rather deal with an EBCM issue than gas issue... just saying lol.
The only issue I have had on my 04 was the water pump, which was covered by warranty.
Oh, and I just had to replace the battery after 10 years!
Love my CE vert!
The C7 is a beauty, I can afford it, just can't quite justify it and I'm worried about the comfort and space.
