Checks. They get off the line quick, no real wheel hop. I've seen 5.0 autos with DRs run high 11s

The one u seen must have suspension work cause my cousins had to go to the shop it wheel hopped so bad it goofed the diff up and a few friend also have bad wheel hop....

I hear the 5oh's hit 11's all the time I personally never seen it happen when I was at the track to be honest I have not seen a GT500 brake 11's either some low 12's but most cant drive'em and only get a mid/hi 12 out of them (sad really)

i'm sure there are some good drivers but 80% of the guys are just average (like myself) the other 20% beat the hell out of the car to really find out how to get every thing out of it if he's that kind of guy he might have an advantage but your 500+ pounds lighter so thats your advantage

Ok I just got to drive a friend's Procharged 2012 5.0 with a custom tune at the local county sheriff's 1.0 mile training road course. It was quick but I would put my old mostly stock 2001 C5Z against him with confidence. Once it got the boost up, it definitely scooted out. However to me it feels like my Z06 had quicker torque response and pulled just as hard in the straights. There's no question it handles better in the corners. I say mod for mod you can take this guy simply because your car weighs several hundred pounds less.

Run him. Beat him. Call it a day.

If you're not sure you can outdrive him out of the hole, run him from a roll. You'll get him.

I've been trying to run him on the street as he runs all other cars on the street. But he refuses to race me anywhere but the track. I don't have dr's and I believe he does, so that wouldn't be a fair race.

5.0 is not faster than a C5 Z, period. Stock for Stock. Mod for Mod, Driver for driver, the Z wins all scenarios. I'm talking drag strip. Road course, not even worth discussing.

Although the 5.0 DID match the V8 M3 around a track when it first arrived....still, we're talking 500 lbs weight difference in all the wrong places. Put 200 lbs in your passenger floor and 300 in the trunk let me know what it does to your 1/4 times lol!

And, if you look at dyno #'s - the C5Z stock dynos more like a 415-420hp car while the 5.0 more like a 400hp car...

My personal experience the c5z will take the 5.0, from a dig or at the strip your going to need some sticky tires and really know how to launch the car. I had a 2010 4.6 GT with 3.73 gears and from a dig I could get the 5.0 from about 0-70mph. Eithier way your cars have identical hp numbers, you have weight, aero, gearing all in your favor.

For an example I had to get my 03 cobra up to 700hp to even consider racing a stock c6z, these vettes are just far superior in gearing, areo, weight and just about everything in between.

Here's how you deal with an a$$hole like this:

1) Every single time he ever says anything about your car or his, challenge him to a roll race.

2) When he declines, challenge his manhood. Call him a wimp, coward, pu$$Y - you know, things like that. Tell him your car will walk his car all day long. Try to sound as confident and douchey as possible.

3) Eventually he'll cave and accept, and then you'll finally find out who is faster. Just make sure you start your car in the proper gear.

I raced what looked like a stock 5.0 it was new to the guy with 30 day tags. My car just has a corsa axle back and K&N intake. I waxed his *** 3 times. One of which I played with him by goeing on and off the throttle teasing him. Priceless. Now I know mine is modded but not by much IMO. But he thought he was the **** trying to not get next to me weaving in and out of cars while I just take it easy and catch up when I could and finally hit an open stretch and chewed him up and spit him out. He was a good sport and gave me a thumbs up though.

Cliffs Notes: Act a like a douche until he races you.

I just don't want to believe it..
If you are worried, then a simple solution would be to run him on a 1/4 mile straight.......with a 90 degree corner at the end (or run to 170mph)

The 5.0 Coyote Mustangs are without a doubt good runners, but I think the C5Z is ahead in every category all mods being equal.

Exactly - it's the old "fight fire with fire" routine.

drivers race, and he's already mentally beaten you, it'll be a good run. on paper, his times can match yours.

It still depends on how you can drive. You should be able to take him, though.
I did the 1/4 with my friend who has a 5.0 and got him by 1 length
